Sonic Drive-In. Why?

I am not sure I've ever eaten at a Sonic to be honest -- we had a Dog 'n Suds in my town, which was decent, and then Sonic took it over and promptly went out of business.

For drive-in food in Indy, you go to Mug-n-Bun or Edwards if you want good food. Edwards was recently featured on one of those Food Network shows and used to be awesome when I was a kid, but I haven't been there in several years.

i always go to the drive thru or park and eat at the sitting area, the only time i've ever had them come to the car was when i just wanted a banana split

I like the sonic breakfast burrito minus the jalapenos. That and a large cherry limeade start of the day right.

sonic was so hyped up in the philly area. then when it finally came it's pretty mediocre fast food and no one really likes it.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that A&W was marketing itself for a takeover. Sonic would be a perfect match. If they changed the name to A&W and revamped their menu and quality, it would really click.

The boomers would do the nostalgia thing, and drive though types would sit and eat rather than eat and drive.

I like Sonic's coneys, cheese fries, desserts, and happy hour drinks.

There's one nearby so I do stop occasionally for a limeade and maybe a New York hot dog. It sucks if it's hot out though, don't want to stay too long.

Most of their stuff sucks, and I have a choice of Jack in the Box, McD's, Subway, Whataburger, Carl's Jr and Taco Cabana within a mile so Sonic isn't high on my list.

Sonic seems to always have decent traffic here. And yet, once again, everyone on ATOT hates it.

I've never understood why they advertise on our local channels here. We don't have any Sonics within 50 miles of us, but they are on TV and radio stations a lot.

There was a local drive-in near us that recently closed down, it would be a great location for one.

If you were going to go through the drive in at McDonalds or Burger King, whats the difference if you go to Sonic? I find the quality at Sonic better than McDonalds and Burger King. I personally like their fish sandwich, but unfortunately they only have them March, April and May each year. I find their malts lacking, but the Cherry Limeaids and other special drinks, especially during happy hour great!

They have good food but their food is sort of pricey for fast food. The drinks are a complete ripoff if you do not request lite ice or no ice. They are expensive as well, the sweet tea for half price is what I always get. They have good breakfast stuff as well.

My first job was A&W, I was the burger guy. $1.25/hr. The girls gave up their roller skates just a couple years before I started.

After a long drive I'd probably look for somewhere other to sit besides my car, but otherwise I think the seats are a little more comfortable in my car and the music I listen to will be of my choosing.

A lot of people at fast food places just park and eat their food in the car anyway, so it seems like the concept is not that odd.

the ocean water drink and banana cream pie shake are both great, the burgers not as much so.

lol, same here for a long time. They were always out on the freeway exits. They finally did build one here in town and people went nuts over it. For the first 6 months there was always a line around the place. Always!! It was so busy they kept two big trailers (one a refrigerated unit) on site to hold enough supplies.

i use the drive in part but then take my food home. better than wasting gas in the drive thru line and usually faster.

Sonic changed their ice cream around here.

Completely sucks now...less 'icey' and more like Mcdonalds chemical creation. Anyone else notice this in their area?

Surprisingly, the closest Sonic is 30 minutes out from San Jose. Been there once & it was ok. Definitely not a drive I would ever make just to eat there. Would I eat there again? Maybe, but only if I'm 2 minutes away.
