Pc gaming needs some variety and I'm glad Sega released this game on the pc.

Too bad so many good games are coming out this month. I've been busy and between BF3, Skyrim, this and a few others my beauty sleep is going to suffer.

As a FYI, Sonic Generations is a Steamworks game. That means you can shop around for a good deal and it will always register on Steam. For some, that's a rather nice thing.

I was originally going to buy it through Green Man Gaming, but I played the demo on the PS3 and was disappointed immediately by the new-age SEGA logo. The original logo just has such a nostalgic feel that I really prefer it. Although, I've been told that it actually has the original logo. But anyway, I've heard a lot of good things about it, and it's 1/2 the price on the PC with 3D support!

I have it for PC. Bought it off Steam. It's the best Sonic game in 15 years IMO. Good level design, a return to solid platforming over raw speed in 2D mode, and even the 3D levels are very enjoyable. Sega has really nailed the formula this time. You'd be hard pressed not to smile jumping into the re-imaginings of Green Hill, Chemical Plant, and Sky Sanctuary.

As to how the game actually plays, it's more like Sonic 1/CD for the 2D and Sonic Adventure/Unleashed for the 3D. Lots of platforming, not as much pinball mechanics.

The PC version has two major advantages over console. It's cheaper. AND, it's not frame locked. The consoles are set at 30fps, which introduces a lot of motion blur and lag. The original Sonic games ran at 60fps. That's the way the game should be played. Graphics are much smoother on PC if you have a fast enough system, thus offering a much better playing experience IMO.

Agreed 100%. I can't believe Sega not only released it for the PC, but they finally got non2.0D Sonic right it right.

On my PC it seems like it runs at a constant 60fps w/ AA @ 1920x1200, and everything on high plus all driver filitering optimizations turned off (as I always do). I'm sure it looks a lot better than the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

Do you have a console? I know there's a PS3 demo, and I assume there's one on the 360 as well. It's not a perfect solution, but it works.

Loved the Sonic series! I would play the hell outa them on my Sega Genesis.

I don't even own a console, but I highly, highly recommend that those of you with a PS3 and a 3D TV download the demo from the Playstation store. It is easily the most impressed I've ever been with 3d technology at home or in a theater. Simply phenomenal. It seems like it would give children seizures, but it's worth it. We played for over an hour and everyone in the room never stopped going "Woah! Crazy!" It's like you're running along as 2d Sonic, then the camera swings behind him and stuff is just coming at you, flying by your head.

Love Sonic Generations. Has the good ol fashion replay value of going back to collect tokens for artwork and music. I connect my PS3 controller via bluetooth to my laptop to play this game. So much better than kb\mouse setup.

Anyone play the PC demo on Steam? Somehow I could not get it to run. I get to some launch screen and cant go further. It just locks up and doesnt respond to any keystrokes.
I would at least like to try the demo.
