He asked the fireman to help his dog. One of them told him that he could get another dog...dogs die everyday!:|

And get this!! The police department released his prior arrest record to the press. WTF!!!!??? What does that have to do with him saving his dog's life?? :|:| That's just dirty!

Based on the publicity I think he's getting his payback.

Payback? That's just the police department stooping to new lows. His previous arrest record has nothing to do with saving a dog. They're just trying to turn the public on him for his previous arrests instead of themselves taking the heat.

If you honestly believe the man showing up on the Today show has NOT had a negative effect on both the Police Department and the DA's office you are crazy. Politicians HATE telephone calls and I bet their phones have been ringing off the hook. I wouldn't be supprised if he has pro-bono representation from the highest price lawyer in his area and they are undoubtably trying to talk him into a civil suit against the city. Believe me, he's getting his payback.

Let me get something straight here...

If somebody is inside a burning building, are they allowed to open a door or window to get out? Opening that door or window could cause a flashover or backdraft. So I guess they should just sit there until they burn to death waiting for the firefighters.

Thank god these laws are there to protect people from themselves. Getting out of a burning building could be too dangerous for us peons! All hail the government employee!

Morning bump.

Come on! Where are the letter of the the law nazis? Can a person trapped in a burning building be told by the firefighters and police to stay in the building or risk criminal charges?

I'm bumping this until you answer.

MacBaine! Come on down, you're the next contestant on The Law Is Right!

I am here right now TrollerFett. What do you want? If you can see the difference between opening a door to save a human life, and opening a door to save a dog you are way gone. I used to have a little respect for you, but since you are "bumping this" until someone answers, I don't anymore. Can you not understand the difference? Do you understand the liability issues? Did you even read the whole thread?

Piss off. I don't care about or want your respect. I'm bumping because the Letter Of The Law nazis were extremely vocal until I presented something that made sense.

The issue, you twit, that these Law Is God nazis were arguing that the person broke the law by ignoring and endangering the rescue workers.

So my question stands, fool. If a human being were trapped in a burning building and the rescue workers told him that if he opened a door or window to attempt escape, he would cause the building to explode, does the law supersede that persons right to survival?

Your "issue" has already been brought up, and the answer is NO. A dog, however, is not a human. Can you not understand that moron? Do I need to spoonfeed it to you? Did you ever think they might not be on the forums right now? I mean that is awful arrogant to assume your argument made them cower in fear.

I"m generally a letter of the law kinda guy, whether the law is right or wrong as perceived by myself. This, however, is completely moronic.

It seems to me that the role of the firefighter has changed from trying to protect all people and property to trying to protect only those pepole and property that are not yet on fire. They goal no longer seems to be to extinguish the fire, but to contain it and be damned if your entire house and all its belongings are burned to the ground as long as it doesn't jump over to the neighbors house.

That being said, I think he had the right to go in after his dog, and the police had the right to arrest him for endagering himself and others. A dog is most certainly not a human, and an animals life most certainly is not sacred.
