Sony 24x10x40 Internal CD-RW Drive ~$70 after MIR

For those that can't find the PD or Cendyne's and missed out on the TDK, here is another chance to get an inexspensive 24x writer. I don't know how good a drive this is...so if anyone knows, please do tell.

Best Buy has the Sony 24x10x40 CD-RW Drive on sale on thier site and store for $129 with a $30 MIR.

Fry's Electronics has the same deal.

House of Computers has the drive for a price of $96.00, link provided.

Have either store PM to this price and you can get the drive for around $70 after MIR.

BTW, you could use the following rebate form from Outpost.com, I belive. It doesn't stipulate which stores it has to be from.

I got this same drive from Staples and it died the first minute I plugged it in. Lucky that I got in on TDK deal from CC.

I don't know much about Sony QC policy but it used to be a lot better. My old CRX160E still works great since day one.

It won't work, cause the House of components drive is OEM. I think you can get it for $80 at office depot. They have it on sale with a rebate as well. $20 off $100 coupon, and not a bad deal.

I bought the Sony from Staples but it is going back. It just would not work with my software of choice, CDRWin. After much hemming and hawing, the CDRWin people say it is because Sony rebrands 4 different drive models under this one part number, and their software can't figure it out. "Life is like a Sony 24x CD-RW, you never know what you are going to get."

Next stop: Yamaha.

Changed my mind on it, buying Yamaha instead. Gotta hot deal on Yamahas I'll be posting tomorrow. Probably won't get any responses cuz everyone seems to love those cheap @ss LiteOns.

i too had problems with my sony software
however when i tried nero 5.5
it worked fine
and its a fast a$$ burner
