I wanted to get a Nikon D70 and they were out of stock in almost every single store except for this one... and the price was great. Instead of ordering it online, I called them up to find out if they really did have it in stock. so when I called, the guy actually started hitting on me!!! But aside from that, I grew suspicious about this store for a few reasons:

1. how can they have this popular item in stock for such a low price when all good and well known retail stores didnt have them?

2. The person I spoke to the over the phone was not professional at all... he sounded like someone who was uneducated.

3. As mentioned above. The guy actually started hitting on me!

4. He kept pushing me to buy accessories that I didnt need and when I gave him a better price from another retailer, he just duck my comment and changed the subject.

Please do not order from them.... they are a scam.

LOL FAGGED!

$3257.81 shipped from Onecall.com and they are a reputable dealer.
Or you could probably use those two data points to bargain at CC or BB.
Guess you'd have to decide if you wanted to take a chance over $260.

I had picked up this very model last Dec after a lot of Haggling and Price matching from CC for about 2800. I love this TV - it has a gorgeous picture. Do some legwork to try PM, you wont regret buying it.

damn good price for a 60". Paid the same price for the 50" in June. I couldn't fit a 60" in my family room anyways.

Nevertheless, great price.

He seems to be referring to a bulb problem these sony's had ealier.
gw3 buzz

they have worked those problems out, seems to be som qc issues with a brand of bulb used in earlier models. Mine blew about 4 months in. Sony had a replacement bulb in my hand in 29hrs.

I have the 50 in set, highly recomended. Out of all the possible hdtvs out there, arguably this handles the most signals very well, from hd to sd to dvds.

Do reccomend looking around though, i wouldnt trust 3 grand to a shady retailer. One call looks like yer best bet.

Also the GW4 (Grand Wega 4, this model is the 3) is about come out soon. not available in this size, which is prob why you might see these on sale. I saw the new set at an ht show and its the same as this one, in a new cabinet. They have lowered the price which is a good thing, but nothing else cept the cabinet changes. (Again not available in 60in)

I was going to say, I thought Sony made really high quality stuff...My dad will be interested in this, because he's always wanted an LCD TV.

"LCD TV" implies a direct view, flat panel, LCD TV. This is rear projection. You might know this, but just in case you didn't...

you'll hear differnt opinons but i think sony has the best standard def picture of any of the fixed panel projection tvs.
DLP tvs can have a better HiDef picture, but they make sd signals really suck.

HT Magazine review

Came in 2nd out of 10 tvs. Alot of reviewers gave it the top score.

Take that review with a grain of salt, but more or less I agree with their assumptions.
(They do fu(k up on the evaluations of some of the other sets tho)

If you in the market for a 60" HDTV, check out your local Costco. Mine just started carrying the Samsung HLN617W 61-Inch DLP Projection TV. If I remember correctly it was around $3600, which for this set is a very good price (compare Onecall). I have the 50" version of this set, been enjoying it for about a year now. I have no complaints (except that what I paid for it a year ago could now buy the 61" model :frown: ). I think Samsung is coming out with their new models in a few weeks, which is why you're starting to see good buys on the current models. I'm a big fan of DLP technology -- fewer problems than the others.

I have seen the Sony LCD rear projection sets and they do have an incredible picture. Friends of mine who sell these have told me that the next generation of LCD RP sets from Sony will have a built in HDTV tuner and will sell for about the same price. Of course it seems that prices fall daily on everything regarding any type of big screen tvs. The built in tuner would be worth getting if you live in an area where there are a number of HDTV channels that can be gotten with just an antenna. Not much of a plus if you have to get your HDTV through cable or satellite If you are able to get the signal locally then I would definitely go with the newer model with a tuner as Sony's tuner would probably be better than a number of others you could get. Also, there apparently is still a problem with HDTV signals being delivered 100% accurately through satellite and cable, but antenna reception does not seem to have the same problem.

They're going to have built-in tuners because the prices of external tuners are falling below 300 bucks and the TV companies know the market for "HD-ready" sets is fastly diminishing.

You mean, aside from the crappy viewing angle?
Not sure what you mean here. My Samsung DLP has one of the widest viewing angles of any of the rear projection sets I looked at. Have you looked at one?

I believe DLP has the widest viewing angle of Projection CRT, LCD, and DLP. It is less than Plasma and Direct View CRT, but is impressive nonetheless. Vertical viewing angle isn't great, but should not be an issue if you buy the right stand for it. I think you are thinking of something besides DLP or making an ignorant thread crap (do some research).

DLP's have the exact same viewing angle as a LCD projection, or LCOS/D-ILA digital set with the same dot pitch. CRT RPTV's tend to have much narrower viewing angles because of the screen.
