So i was gonna go into BB today to buy this TV since they had it at 10% off their normal price of $2199.99.

Sony BRAVIA 46" Flat-Panel LCD HDTV - Silver
Model: KDL-46S2000
BB Link

Their online online price this weekend through tomorrow was $1979.99 which was good enough for me. I decided to drop by CC first since it was closer to my house to try to get a pricematch. They didn't have that exact model on display and the guy told me it was replace by the KDL-46S2010 which is the same TV but with a black frame. He then looked up their price on the KDL-46S2000 and their system price is $1599.96 which is about $250 lower than the lowest price on pricegrabber.

There was none left in stock but i was able to snag the last one left at another CC 20 miles away. I probably could have went into any BB and price matched it which would give 110% of the difference which would be another $60.00 making it $1539.99 but i was happy enough with the $1599 price and my SUV woulda burned $60 in gas going between stores.

This model is not on CC's website but if you call them for a pricequote it will be $1599.99.

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

Isn't the KDL-46S2000 the one with the recall because of the overheating B&M tuner/controller module?

both models seems to have a native 1366 x 768 resolution (no 1080P) so why would anyone want these besides being sony fanbois? I mean- common- 46in and no 1080P? Can you say jaggies?

..saw it out at costco. it blows all the plasmas away with it's edge sharpness and contrast. Best true to life color I've seen yet.

Yet another spec whore. Have you even seen these TVs in real life before making such a statement?

Here's my experience. I've played Gears of War on my parents 50" Samsung plasma(that's right..larger than 46" and only displaying 768) and the IQ trumps that of my 22" LCD with the 360 outputting 1080p. Jaggies?? Not an issue unless you sit 5" from the screen but then again you'd see jaggies on a 1080p screen as well at that distance.

1080p is not the be and end all qualifier to make a great TV as people make it out to be especially at a price premium. Judge a panel by real life exposure, not by paper stats.

yah, that dude don't know what he's talking about. Consumer Reports reported that 1080i is only visibly noticable in TVs larger than 50" and is not worth the extra price right now.

I've looked at TVs at costco, BB and CC and every store i conclude the same thing that all TVs are pretty much the same but the Sony's are definitely brighter and way sharper than anything else. I'm no videophile and i don't do any gaming but i know Sony is the best at TVs historically and i know they make a great product that will last.

The only reason people are wanting 1080i is because its the new thing. They don't give a crap if its noticiably different. they just figure that newer is better. try looking at a bunch of TVs under 50" at your local store without reading the labels to see which one is 1080i. If you can tell just by looking at the picture then you must be a video freak. To my wife and I, alot of the 768i look better than some of the 1080i.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....THAT IS COMEDY GOLD RIGHT THERE. Not only the comment about you not being a videophile but the comment about that they are the best tv's historically.

Firts of all- calling me a whore under any terms instantly reveals your lack of maturity, tact and character. Therefore I (and I'm sure others) am surely less likely to heed any opinion you have on anything. Second of all, plasmas and LCDs are NOT IQ comparable in regards to native resolution, so do not come here quoting your experience with a large plasma in a thread about a large LCD. Next, I know of no 22in LCDs that have a 1080P native res, so that point is also invalid, as it would be impossible to appreciate the IQ and clarity of a xbox360 outputing at 1080P if your 22in LCD did not have 1080P as its native res. (all the 22in LCDs I see around are 1680 x 1050) And then we have your cute 5" exageration. For the record I never said 1080P was any sort of end all qualifier for a great LCD, but it is technically and visibly superior to any resolution below it, especially on LCDs, and no one can argue that. And I do not consider $1299+tax shipped for a true 1080P, 42" Sceptre LCD (with built in ATSC/QAM and more connectors than you can shake a stick at on an easy access media box) with a 100% satisfaction guarantee/refund anytime policy a "PRIME PREMIUM" (and yes I realize a 42" is not a 46", but 42 to 46 is miniscule when considering an LCD for purchase- if I had a choice between a 42in 1080p and a 46in 1366, I would, without pause, choose the 42, and it being cheaper is just icing on the cake. And if for some crazy reason I HAD to have a 46in LCD, the 1080Ps start around $1998+sh which is less or equal to the regular price of these Sony's)
If you want to pay $1599(or more) for a 1366x768 LCD then by all means- enjoy, but I felt thread viewers should be made aware of this LCD's obvious shortcoming as a unit of such a large size. 1366x768 is perfectly fine for plasmas of any size, but NOT an LCD at such a large size. Because of this I found the attraction of this LCD and its older model questionable and anyone who would think it was so wonderful. If this thread had been about a 1366x768 Plasma I would have never even blinked an eye, but an LCD of that size with that low of a native res is just wrong.
ps- heres a link to a $1998+sh 1080P 46in LCD for example

Do you mean the online deal for the Philips (doesn't kick in until the end of the month), or an in-store option?

I think I'd take the 720p Sony over the 1080p Philips any day of the week if that's the case...

You tell em! (you sony martyr you)

I do not own a single Sony product. The last one I owned was a Playstation 1...

But considering all the junk I've heard about Philips reliability and having seen many Sony and Philips sets live in store, I'd easily take my chances with Sony over Philips. If I had a choice I'd probably go with neither (more than likely I'd go with Samsung or Sharp) but I'd be perfectly happy with a Sony set.

But since I highly doubt you have seen the 47in philips nor even aquainted yourself with its specs or reviews, it seems quite uncalled for for you to make that statement at this time, seeming only doing it as to "take sides", if you will. But you are definitely entitled to your opinion. But I would give you more respect if you actually came to this thread with more concrete information rather than generalizations.
