Very hot deal, the last hot deal was the Dell Oct 17th sale for $135.99 but that had no MIR.

I own the Sony Clie PEG-S320 and so far love it. The screen is very sharp, nice silver finish, thin, Palm OS v4.0, USB out of the box, built-in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, Sony JogDial, accepts Sony Memory Stick media and more.

Even though CC rebate comes quick but I still hate to wait for it. Dell deal seems to be a pretty close call.

$169.99 less 10% and $25 off brings total to $127.99 shipped. CC deal is $169.99 plus tax...less $50 rebate, and that brings total close to $130 after MIR.

I don't know much about Palm OS since I own iPaq. This seems to be a great gift............can anyone comment this and others such as m125, Vx, Visor Deluxe......etc.?

Few years back before I built my own, I bought a computer moniter and speakers @ CC. They knocked $100 off the moniter, $50 off the speakers, and $150 off the comp, so CC is negotiable. Of course getting that discount required talking to the manager and stuff, but it was worth it.

and they estimate earliest mid next month is the time they will get more in..
staples.com also shows this item on backorder..otherwise it would be
good to get from staples.com since we all know there is $30 off coupon to be found

The item is in stock at Dell. In fact, I ordered one about 1-2 weeks ago and I got an estimated ship date of mid December, but it just shipped 2 days ago. Dell's estimated ship dates are usually worst case scenarios. It's happened to me with a few items I've orded from Dell, they usually ship way in advance of their estimated ship dates.

The 320 is HANDS-DOWN the best value in it's class/price.

8mb ram
Fastest processor available for a Palm handheld.
Nice screen
Memory stick for expansion (though CF would be better).
Palm OS 4.0
Syncs with Outlook without using Palm Desktop.

It's basically a faster Palm Vx.

And you can get it for $130 with this or the Dell deal.


Also, the 610 is the best value in it's class, for the same reasons, PLUS
better resolution on the screen than any other Palm.

The Sony's just kill the Handspring and Palms. I don't see why they don't
get more attention. And believe me - I'm no big fan of Sony products. But
the clie is a winner.

I own the 320 and my wife the 610. Prior to that we had Palm III's and Palm V's for
the last 2 years.

None that are significant, this really is a great value.

One complaint I have though is the lack of a cradle for HotSyncing and charging, there's just cables you plug into the bottom of the PDA.

Get it before your local CC runs out. One word of advice though. DO NOT cut out the UPC or mail in the rebate until you have played around with the PDA to determine if you like it or not. If you don't then you can still return it to your local CC and lose nothing.

One thing I think may be the DISADVANTAGE is it does not include a Cradle.

Not too sure, but can this deal be made hotter by shopping through MSN Shopping? If so, then you can get back $20 for spending over $100.

No cradle is a disadvantage, true. But you still have the hotsync cable. And on the plus side it takes up
less space on your desk than the cradle ...

I have a 320 now for about 2 months. It is AWESOME!!! I thought 8mb would be more than enough, but once you go to Palmgear.com or any of the sites with palm software, it goes quick. The only drawbacks I see so far is lack of accessories and it cannot charge & be hooked to pc at the same time. The battery life is great. I go days without needing a charge & that is with hours of use with the backlight on. This is a great deal & I am thinking of getting another so the wife can have her own!

Well I have an s300 and similarly to the s320, there is no XP USB hotsynch support yet. Which means if you have XP, you'll need to buy a serial cable to hotsynch, or wait till Sony puts out a patch. More info available from Sony's webiste here.

As of now, these are the only XP-USB compatible ones:

One of the biggest disadvantages [to all Sony manufactured products] is the use of their very limiting Sony memory sticks. If they just went along with everyone else and used compact flash or smart media, it'd make all of our lives easier. Kind of like how the US still used lb and feet instead of Newton and meter.

For those of you who don't know or who didn't get in on that Compusa deal a while back, Sony media sticks are way more expensive than compact flash or smart media sticks.
