Sony.com Sony F717 Cybershot Digital 5.2 Megapixel $799 + Free shipping & 100 prints

Just got an email from Sony about how there prices are dropping on these buggers! Buy from Sony.com for $799 and you get free ground shipping and get this 100 FREE 4x6 prints! I've used their print service before and it is pretty awesome, nice glossy pictures! Also for those who always complain about the memory sticks, Sony has just released the following:

1GB Memory stick $799.00 <-- wow same value as camera : (
512MB Memory stick $359.99
256MB Memory stick $179.99
128MB Memory stick $89.99 <-- this price should hopefully drop soon since they just released higher memory sticks.

I may get the 256MB stick. Also I believe when I bought my F717 from BestBuy couple months ago I registered camera with Sony and got I think a digital coupon don't remember value wanna say like $15 bucks or so for future spending which I again think I could have used towards memory stick or other accessories.

Anyways for those of you wanting a nice digital camera with 5.2 megapixels for under $800 here it is!

Oh yea btw peeps most don't realize that when you buy a Sony digital you also get FREE UNLIMITED web space through their service "imagestatoin" which alone is worth it! Service is really fast in loading pictures. The only thing I hate is from time to time the site is down for updating. Other then that it really works out great! I remember paying like $20 a year for 20 megs of space.

The memory is waay expensive... Sony lost a lot of customers because of its stupid and overpriced media...

Yea I hear you on the expense side. I use mine for work, pleasure, and ebay so to me it's worth the price of paying a little more. Ebay alone has paid for my camera 10 times + over : )

BTW a FANTASTIC camera. Arguably the best non-DSLR digital camera on the market.

I really want a camera with optical manual focus (SLR). This one is getting close but not close enough.

And yes, the subject really looks like you get both for $800. If that is what it was, I might actually have taken the deal.

Very misleading title indeed. Also for existing sony DCS owners(me included) we are lucked out of memory stick pro above 128MB this sucks!!!!

You can still get 128MB sticks for < $30 after rebates at amazon. The pro's don't look that great until the prices drop (or we have rebates, once sandisk and lexar start producing them).

I LOVE my F707. Best camera I've EVER had, and I speak from experience... I've had 8 digital cameras and I finally settled on this one.

I might have my camera "break" under warranty (through Sears), so I can get a 717 and have the ability to use the larger memory sticks.

Hehe sorry peeps about the mix up on title, fixed now! That sucks that F707 owners can't use new memory sticks. I also have had my fair share with Sony's Digital camera's. The first I've owned was the FD-91 which was floppy disk but the Zoom kick but 14X. I am not sure why Sony stopped making that lens it rocked. If any of anandtech readers can't afford this model, I would definetly consider getting a used FD-91 camera on ebay or wherever for around $300. I regret selling mine! Anyways title is fixed!

I just sell like mad! I've created 4 accounts that 2 of which I buy items on ebay and then resell them making a minimum of 4x of what I paid. Guess you gotta really know what people are looking for. I've had bidders request to contact them before I put any items on ebay as well. This work good for me by: 1. I get to select a price usually in balance with market rate. 2. I avoid paying any ebay charges! That alone saves me a fortune : )
