On Ritz's website it says SONY DSC-S40 DIGITAL CAMERA (MS) under the order confirmation page. I'm pissed! They better honor their price for the P200!

I just called Ritz camera and they said they aren't honoring the price. They said Amazon made a mistake and there is no way they will be giving out the camera for that price. They already cancelled all the orders for $200. The CSR said people will be getting notified soon about their order cancellation. Sucks!

booo for ritz camera. Maybe amazon will give everyone who ordered some sort of GC or something of the sorts.

Yeah--and a class action lawsuit to boot!

Why should you file a complaint over an obvious mistake? Especially when the disclaimer on the site specifically says that mistakes won't be honored.

I ordered one at $200--and canceled it later. I am not the slightest bit angry that I did not get it.

I am sure somebody will file a complaint (or already has). I think a company like Ritz Camera should have a right to sue somebody who slanders them like this.

Confirmed, I ordered one after seeing it on Hardforums, checked their site and they're sending the S40, I used the live chat on their site and said I wanted to cancel, they did it immediately and without comment lol


Oh well, would've been nice, I stayed up until 5am I was so giddy over it


Keep forgetting I can't use brackets and an H here lol

Yes, very interesting guarantee as my order at Amazon clearly states that it is a Sony Cybershot DSCP200/R 7.2MP Digital Camera 3x Optical Zoom (Red). I'll just wait and see if they cancell my order. So far it is still active.

No order cancellation yet for me. Last night, the Amazon site noted my order had been shipped (not sure what that meant). Went to Ritz again this morning, entered my email and zip code and still no order in their system - it says please allow 1 business day for this to show up. Again, my order said DSCP200 all the way through. Can't see how they'd send a different camera. And, my credit card has already been charged. Guess I'll sit tight for a little while and see if something comes via email later.

If they send the camera they advertised / I purchased, great. If they do cancel and refund my money promptly, I can live with that - price mistakes happen. If they try to send another camera and hold on to my money, that would be unacceptable. In any event, at present I trust they will do the right thing - either honor the deal, or cancel and notify / apologize / refund asap.

Basically what had happened was that Amazon made a mistake somewhere along the way with Ritz. In Amazon's system, $199 was for the P200 while in Ritz it was for another camera. So when you order through Amazon, they send the order and Ritz gets it for another camera. I called Ritz and they said that they put a "Do Not Honor" on all P200's ordered yesterday.

it says that if you get the wrong item and file a claim, you are eligible for a refund and a possible of no need to return the item.

there is a big order of this camera and it is at the top most popular in amazon.com if you go take a look at it.

Take a look at the third bubble of the Link and it states that if they ship to you and you ship it back to them, you will not be refunded. it means, if they ship it to you and they dont refund your shipment back then you can keep it and still get a refund. you are dealing with amazon and ritzcamera so both retailers know what they are doing.

Thanks for the updates - I'm gonna sit tight 'til a little later today. As my email doesn't show up in Ritz's system I assume (maybe incorrectly) no need to call as yet, and I'm sure they're getting plenty of calls from other customers. I hope this doesn't get ugly.

Problem is, Amazon's A to Z guarantee only works if the store involved refuses a refund/exchange on the item, and Ritz has a pretty decent no hassle refund policy. If they ended up sending you the wrong item, or not canceling it, I have no doubt they'd allow you to return it for a full refund, in which case Amazon will do nothing about it, and probably would require you to try for a return with Ritz before they'll cover the guarantee.

No doubt. I tried, it didn't go through, I'm not going to complain. Would've been awesome, but I can wait a month or two and see if it drops under $300
