Butthurt much? Most camera producers overproduced right past the peak of ILC sales so Sony is hardly alone in having to drop prices. DSLR users claim their gear drops in value more slowly but aside from the original A7 series, which was basically a public beta test, Sony cameras haven't depreciated that much faster than anyone else, despite continually improvements. In contrast, Canon barely improves its cameras each generation; a Rebel today is practically the same as a Rebel from 7 years ago except with video. Pathetic.

what else do we need? If we can get our images in focus, and now we have video, we don't need anything else! Post is always done at home, and we can all get high quality glass. This isn't a computer where we need to run games @ 60 fps minimum! Hell I use my iphone 6+ way more than anything else out there right now. The results are astonishing, and I didn't even have to PP them!

The point is that the other guy (Apr 2015, low post count guy) was a troll. CaNikon DSLRs lose value too, that's the nature of tech. To the extent they lose value more slowly, perhaps it's because they improve much more slowly. That's not something to be proud of.

As to your Q: There are all sorts of things that can be improved even if you wouldn't be interested in them, ranging from higher fps, to RGB metering (Canon finally started doing this), to better AF-C tracking, to more AF points with more coverage, to better Live View focusing, to better video codec.

As to your point: If you're happy with a camera then you can just keep using it. Only if you sell a camera do you care about resale value. So someone who buys a 5DIII today and is ok with no further improvements, shouldn't care much if it depreciates all the way down to ZERO tomorrow, because they can just keep shooting the 5DIII for years or decades.

Some of these post read like a Sony sales guy.

Some of these posts by accusatory people with fewer than 100 posts read like they have an ax to grind.

Give me a freaking break. I've been around the block using several different DSLR and mirrorless systems. Ask CuriousMike if I'm a Sony sales guy considering that I advised him to NOT get an a6000 but to stay with Nikon. And that's despite my being a Canon and Sony user for the last few years. Hell, I have more Canon lenses than I do Sony lenses.

How can anyone who wants mirrorless conveniences like EVF (and the live histogram, focus peaking, level, and everything else that comes with it) NOT be enthusiastic about what may effectively be a mirrorless full-frame Canon body that can take Canon EF lenses (which many people already own), Sony/Minolta A-mount lenses, Nikon F lenses (via adapter, MF only), etc.? AND it can take native E-mount lenses when you need portability.

Many people have waited a long time for SOMEBODY to come out with affordable full-frame mirrorless, and it just happens that Sony got there first... and if it can take people's existing full-frame lenses then the cost of trying it out declines even further since you don't need to switch over all your glass immediately. If the sticker shock dissuades you then you probably don't need the camera and can wait some more. No big deal. But to some people this camera would be a bargain--and a harbinger of things to come.

Don't play innocent. And your response to my response tells everyone that you consider yourself to be the guilty party.

If you don't like this thread you are free to go elsewhere instead of threadcrapping.

Edited because I decided not to stoop to the level of the other person. Have fun with "your" thread.

Nice ninja edit.

This thread was fine until you and the other troll started threadcrapping with absurd depreciation claims and your wild accusations of shilling. Don't accuse others of "stooping" when it was YOU who "stooped" first.

And can you be less of a coward please and stop pretending like you were NOT talking about me? Or do you talk behind people's backs in real life too?

I'm not OP btw. You can ask OP if he thinks I'm a Sony shill though. Good luck considering I've argued against his getting a Sony and sticking with Nikon instead.

I really like the size of the sony a7 series; I moved from Nikon to get into a physically smaller camera / ecosystem. If I wanted more normal dslr ergonomics, I would have hung onto my Nikon. I don't know what functions the A99 has that the A7 series doesn't, and vice versa. I don't know how the economics work out when choosing A series lenses plus the cost of the adapter, versus just buying e-mount lenses, but the versatility of the e-mount is pretty darn cool (I have a Nikon F adapter and a Leica M adapter to use those lenses on my A7).

In the end, I think a camera with a super zoom and a macro focus will probably trump all, as long as it has incredible image quality!

Somebody needs to invent the 14mm-300mm f/1.4 IS/VR/VC double extra low dispersion lens with a minimum focus of 1" @ 14mm. And have it be 1lbs max! imagine that... we literally would only need to carry 1 lens with us at all times... Focus on the creativity, instead of which lens to use to get the "proper" effect.

what do you think about A99 vs A7Rii? how about A7Rii + A->E-mount converter?

A99 is Sony's A-mount flagship full frame DSLR. It still uses SLT technology so you do lose about 1/3 of a stop of light. It's not really noticeable unless you compare a shot side by side. AF would be a little faster than current A7 series but the A7Rii may be on par or likely even surpass it.

Not everyone likes the thought of adapters but they do open up more options for lenses, especially when the current FE line isn't filled out yet. What's even more interesting is being able to use Canon lenses now with acceptable AF speeds.
