Yes the new drive will support both -R & +R formats and retail for $199.00l

I got this from Lite-on usa itself...just called them and they confirmed it. Due out 2nd quarter of 2003...4x burning speed.. -r & +r formats supported.

Hope to have it under $200 and in the second quarter?
The word hope scares me and the second quater could mean as much as six
months away and that is if there are no delays. At this point this product
is still vaporware and until we see it or have a confirmed date and price
nobody can count on it. By the time this drive comes out there will be a
bunch of others I can garuntee it after the success the Sony has had.

Everyone that buys computer parts knows that the cost shelf life is very short
for this stuff. Waiting six months is an eternity in this business and to me does
not apply.

Yep...same here. Thats why I bought the Sony DRU500a!
