The rebate specifically says "this original certificate," which means an original rebate form, not one printed on a computer. I would check stores for the legitimate rebate coupon instead of gambling on a computer generated printout. Maybe I am just being paranoid, but I know some rebate places love any reason to shoot down your rebate.

Hmm...I'd go with what SimMike says, supposedly OfficeDepot had this rebate listed at their site for a day, so give them a call and try to get them to send it to you or list it again. Haven't found anything else about this rebate yet, so stay alert, and be weary.

That was quick. OOS already. I was there five minutes before and they had them.
Well the MSN rewards is good until the 16th and the rebate lasts all year.
So I will just keep an eye on it.

I just emailed Sony's Rebate center asking for an original to be mailed to me or
a link to an online rebate forum they know is good.
I am kind of glad this is out of stock. At least until I can confirm the rebate.
It does say CC right on that form though.

Word is this rebate was cancelled or otherwise never issued. Don't know where the posted form came from but none of the sites listed in the form make mention of any rebate. Looks like some people who jumped on this will be whining about paying $50 more than they had hoped

I could not order this on CC website due to some technical difficulties. is it becuare the drive is out of sotck ? I think this is hot even without $50 rebate

Get this drive people. It flat out rocks. There is also new firmware available to upgrade the speed of this drive to 4X. The only disadvantage I have seen with this drive is that it comes with some rather shitty DVD burning software so it would be better to start hunting for some good ones right now or just rely on whatever you have at present.

I tried to order this and it was out of stock online, and at every store in our area. I chose the option to be notified when back in stock. A couple of days later, I was notified, went back online and ordered it and picked it up locally. There is no mention of rebates on the CC site, nor in the store. The sales person looked for it too, but no go. I think this is a warm deal with the 20% MSN discount.

I just got a reply to my rebate inquiry and basically they said that they do not have the forms,
that I need to get it from the retailer. They did not deny there was a rebate on this.
Just to be certain I have emailed them again asking them to tell me for sure there is a rebate
on this item and also how do I go about getting the rebate form if the store does not have it, as
CC doesn't have them now.

I really hope this all works out, because I really want one of these.

Right now the -R media is cheaper for low end media, but the +R media is starting to be made by more then
just one company (Currently Ricoh) and since the +R is actually cheaper to make eventually it should be
the cheaper media.

fyi - many people have called Sony Corp. and they say this rebate has been recinded. Meaning, this rebate is dead. I personally want this drive super bad but I'm not going to risk it.

The rebate seems to be a no go, but CC just got these back in stock.
Use Ebates and MSN rewards and get this for $276.50 + tax shipped.
Not bad for those that didn't get in on the Dell deal.
