Yeah all our viewsonics died within 1 or 2 years (4 different models as well). We'll probably never buy another viewsonic again, warranty work was a nightmare.
The Sony G520 is a great monitor, but you might want to try and score one of those Dell 22" Trinitron monitors in black, same tube as the sony, and Dell runs them with 20% off on occasion. We have one of each here and they both rock - but the Dell was almost $200 cheaper.
Edit: Oops, so you're looking at the 19" version eh? Well maybe dell makes a 19" trinitron with the same tube, very likely. Then all you have to do is wait a little bit until they run a 15% or 20% off...
