Holy crap, 3 minutes of charge for 3 hours of playback? It'd take less than an hour for it to charge fully on an empty battery.

Hot for someone looking for an mp3 player with my FM tuner.

link says $130?

At $100 it would be a good present for my dad... hes still using his walkman cassette player and he needs a simple mp3.

I paid $199 when it first came out. Sad to see it's dropped in price so fast. They're don't have anything bigger in the US, only in Japan, there is a 2gb version. Although the price drop may mean that the NW-a608 is coming to the US and I think that has a 2gb and 4gb(?) version as well. Same size and same specs, love the battery live.

Software wise, it's ok. I don't mind it.

The Nano forced a price reduction IMO. This thing can't compete at the same price point with 1/2 the memory and a monochrome screen. They're both nice units though, IMO.

I believe it would be better than 20 hrs of music and 8 hrs of battery. (Have you heard of ipod series? )

A) Who listens to 8 hours of music straight?
B) Not that hard to recharge.

Hmmm...I get "Requested Product is no longer available".

On the other hand, this sounds like the same product I have, and I gotta tell you, except for the damn proprietary software, it's a great device. Easy one-handed operation and unbelievable battery life.

If only I could just drag and drop MP3s onto it, rather than having to fire up the Sony software, I'd call it perfect.

hey, will this be another opportunity to let Sony install a rootkit on your computer? After that deal you couldn't run fast enough to give me anything made by Sony. one thing to frustrate pirates, another to rape your paying customers.

A) People who have midterms/finals. Crazy artist that need music to draw.
B) Yah because we carry our charger everywhere we go.....

How many people does that describe? And you're not studying near an AC outlet/your PC that you can't plug in your iPod? Yea, ok.

Not the point, going that long without a recharge is more convenient anyway you look at it.

A) Hmm.. Have you heard something called "travel"?
B) What about for people with no laptop? What about people with no power connection for a while (i.e on the plane)?

iPod's playback time is ridiculously short, even for normal user. Period. No reason to argue about it.

The day a 1gb Ipod can hold half of what my Sony 1gb player can hold at a similar quality maybe I still wont get one. I will take my 70 hours of playback and 600 songs over 8 hours of playback and 2000 songs, not to mention 20 time the weight any day.
