Here is the 10 pack of tapes. Amazon sells these for $14.88 per 3 pack. That is about $45 for ten.

eCost is running a "Shopping Cart Special" on these so the price drops from $25.99 to $25 when you add them to your cart. But, this "savings" creates a problem. Free shipping starts for orders over $25 so the 99c savings causes you to pick up shipping charges!

To avoid the shipping cost, you can add this FAR mouse. Reabte is here.

Also, there is a "handling fee" of $3.95 added to the order. Folks over at FW, however, say the fee that actaully got charged to thier credit card was usually a lot less (like less than a dollar) on previous similar deals, YMMV.

[UPDATE]

My total credit card charge was only $39.99 for the tapes and the mouse. No handling fee!

As a sidenote. Sam's Club B&M has an 8-pack for $24.xx. Maxell brand. I don't see it on their website. No FAR hassle, but 2 less tapes.

Mine included a handling fee of $3.95 and CA tax of $3.54, total $46.43.

I decided that it's really DVM60 PRL. The site says that's what I'm getting in the product description:

10 Pack of Sony DVM60PRL Sixty minute Premium DV tape
Metal evaporated tape
Diamond-Like Carbon coating protective layer improves durability and helps prevent shedding and drop out

Thanks OP.

Just to clarify about the handling fee, my order receipt showed the $3.95 handling fee but, my credit card statement amount did not include the fee.

BTW, the tapes I received are Premium DVM60PR3 (orange wrapper) not DV60PRL. I've done some web searching and can't find out what (if any) the difference is...

The tapes came in two 5 pack boxes.

Yeah, I figured them for DVM60PRL.

Edit: That's what it says they are at the site! But they are DVM60PR3?! I haven't been able to find any information to distinguish DVM60PR3 from DVM60PRL from DV60PRL.

I did a ton of searching on the Internet, newsgroups, CD sites, everywhere looking for info. These may not be the latest DVM60PRL, but I say "so what!" There's a person on Ebay who sells DVM60PRL, claiming the blue wrapper ones are the new ones, the orange wrapper a year or two old. He doesn't claim his are better, though. I have 10 blue wrapper ones but am down to only one. At this price, I'll go with the orange ones. This is a very good price. Unbeatable, AFAIK. On top of that I'll get a mouse that looks to be usable, but who knows? I guess the $3.95 handling/processing/whatever fee may show up on my bill, maybe won't. However, it IS there on my eCost confirmation email.

Got an email today from ecost saying they'd shipped me my mouse and tapes: DVM60PR2. Poking around Google Groups I found this post in the newsgroup rec.video.production, posted Nov. 29, 2004 (skip the flamewar, so nasty it's laughable, and you get to the following post that pretty much says that cheap modern minidv tapes work just fine for digital video, bolding mine):

In the very early days of DV there was a lubrication mismatch between
Panasonic and Sony tape but that's all been corrected years ago. We
started using the VX1000 as a second unit and special operations camera
in 1995. We've produced over 50 broadcast programmes in the UK using the
VX1000 alongside Beta SP or more recently the PD150 and PD170 alongside
Digital Betacam. We've used every type of DVCAM camera and all semi pro
Canon DV's except the new XL2. We've always used the cheapest consumer
packed Panasonic miniDV tape in all these cameras since 1995, hundreds
of them in all of planet Earths environments from the poles to the
tropics. Or earliest camera archive tapes (almost never re-record over
our lovely rushes) are as pristine in playback as they were a decade
ago. Unlike analogue format tape, digital is far less critical, all
that's required of digital tape is that it fixes a reliable stream of
binary code. Expensively packaged Sony tapes are a completely
unnecessary 1000% price hike hype only useful for impressing incognisant
customers. The tape is pretty much all the same except for the duration
marked on the box. i.e. a 60 minute DV becomes a 40 minute DVCAM etc.
And now, amazingly, we can use the same cheap $2 Panasonic miniDV tapes
to shoot a full hour of 1080i HDV as well.

Just received my shipment. I was NOT charged the $3.95 handling fee. The tapes I got were DVM60PR3, however, even though the email and the enclosed receipt say DVM60PR2. Not sure I like that. Well, the issue I'm concerned about is problems with my camcorder. Probably won't be a problem, but I just don't know. I'm filling out the rebate form and about the seal the required stuff in an envelope to get my rebate for the mouse.

Edit: Just checked out the mouse and it seems to work beautifully. Windows 2000 recognized it and installed it quickly and automatically the moment I plugged it into one of my USB ports. The scroll wheel has a very nice feel, miles ahead of my cordless Intellimouse, which I only use when I require a cordless mouse. If you only require a two button mouse (3 with the scroll wheel), seems fine to me and it's very light.

Edit: Used the mouse for a couple of hours now and don't miss my MX510 at all!
