Don't get me wrong, I love the PS2 and the PSP looks great, but I hate it when Sony comes up with their own proprietary media/format and wants everybody to "buy" into it.

I've read in the Playstation magazine there are ways of ripping movies changing it to the format that the psp uses and putting it on a memory stick to watch the movie, it's said witht he compression that you could fit 2 movies on a 512MB stick.

MP4 format.
If you want somewhat descent quality, 512mb will house one movie.

It's still out.
When you add it to your cart, you'll notice it says "Out of stock. Will not appear in order".
Even if you managed to check out, there won't be a PSP for you, at least not in the first shipment.

According to the review at bjorn3d, the memory still only plays back movies at 320x240 anyways. I could usually fit 2 regular length (90 minutes each) 320x240 movies on one 512MB card for my Axim x3i.

I have a UPS number now on my order status page. Says shipped 3/24. Tracking number is not pulling up any info at UPS.

Mine shipped today 3/24. Except I paid extra for 2 day shipping and it's supposed to come in on Wednesday?

Seems like some are shipping and some are not, I personally still have In Process for my status. I have read others have called Overstock and were told orders will not ship until 4/5. Kind of sucks but I guess I can wait.

Finally got the tracking number to show some info. Appears to be in the mail and coming from NJ.

Got the shipped email late last night as well.

Got mine this morning. Everything appears to be in working order. I actually hadn't seen one in person until today. It's impressive looking.

Mine is still "In Processing", it will most certainly be the last time I preorder anything from Overstock.

Not that I've noticed so far. I haven't really combed over the thing with a magnifying glass, but during the 20 minutes I've messed with it, I haven't seen any.

Guess it would be better to use Sony than Overstock for RMAs if what you say is true.

The MacDadda: Man, sucks to hear that. Especially since you started this thread and gave many AT'ers a heads up on this great deal.

Probably not the most ethical thing to do, but I exchanged 6 old games (Mokey Ball 1, Fifa 2003 GC, Hot Shots 3, etc) at Electronics Boutique. The deal is for 3 games, you get 1 of the selected PSP games they are offering. I took the 2 games I got and went to Walmart and returned them. Got store credit and got the games I wanted (Lumines and Ridge Racer aren't in the EB offer). So, you could theoretically trade in a few games for good money if you don't mind working for it. I';ve read other places of people doing this with a few more titles and getting the PSP in the end for very cheap (disregarding that the old games cost a bunch originally).

I heard that these use proprietary memory sticks and that the DVD movies are only available on proprietary Sony devices. Does anyone know if this is true?

Well most people are not going to bother posting if they got a perfect LCD so all you hear about are how many got dead pixels.

I got a perfect one but there are some other issues such as lose battery cover but it still has yet to open on it's own.

All in all I'm very happy with this handheld.

No, it plays regular DVDs and CDs. You can also use Playstation memory cards.
