ebgames has it for $399.99, but at least they let you choose your three games.

Definitely. Sony is notoriously bad at volume production and distribution. Get as many as you can on day one and you will make money.

Hmm, I don't know. First distribution numbers are lower than the DS and they did fetch a little over retail, not the huge 2 & 3x markups that the PS2s did at first. Also it's the wrong time of year for the ebay greedy craziness, parents won't be paying any ridiculous price to get their kids the "must have" item before the holidays. Plus retail price is higher and the DS has already gained exceptional market penetration. Plus Sony has ramped up production to try to keep 'em in stores in the weeks following the first dist. They'll probably sell fast and there'll be some that fetch big ebay money but I don't think it'll last nearly as long as the PS2, (or PS1, or N64) distributions did.

I sold several copies of WoW for $90 about a week ago. I bought 13 copies at $55 each shipped, sold all for $80-90. PSP will be going for $50 more on eBay I estimate.

If you can buy them locally it is a risk free proposition, you can always return them. I would imagine about 1 month of "impossible to find" and then "hard to find" for a while after that. I also think that you could easily make $100/ea. the first week.

I'd prefer a region 1 machine. I'm going to check the store and see if you can pre-order without the stupid bundle crap. I only want to get 1 or 2 games at launch.

DS was a no-brainer purchase (at least for me) because it already supported hundreds of games, so you could buy and use it immedaitely. Game selection is what will make or brake PSP, and Sony has been known to release some duds in the past.

The problem is it can be imported from Japan for $300 now. Albeit, that includes no accessories or games, but many eBay shoppers will find ways to import it. Since it has no country code (at least thats the rumor) it will play USA games even if its a Japanese model.

How were you able to ebay it? Blizzard bans all sales of warcraft auctions. This includes legit selling of the physical game.

The games are region free, but there is region encoding in the machine. Movies and other stuff like that are said to still be region encoded. The patent office has the latest version of the instruction booklet for the PSP and it specific mentions that it's Region 1 encoded.

Sony hasn't made an offical comment other than "games are not region encoded but other items can be."

resolution for the Nintendo DS is 256x192 and that looks pretty good. I'm still going to hold off purchasing until I see it in person.
