Sony Reader question - does the sony store work anywhere there's a net connection?

I'm thinking about buying a Sony Reader before I'm off to the middle east for a while (no not Iraq, heh). I'm worried however if I won't be able to access the store and buy anything for the reader, I can't find a region list for it or any such thing. Kindle's wireless doesn't work outside the US but you can still access Amazon and buy the books, so if the reader has a problem with this I'll have to get a kindle.

There are folks all over using the Sony Reader and its store. Check out the forums at Mobileread. There are folks there from areas in the Middle East (Israel) using it, so my guess is that it should work anywhere. The Mobileread forums are probably a better place to ask for sure, though.
