Sony SDM S71 Lcd

I recently purchased an LCD Sony SDM S71 17 inch. The monitor was showing odd colors at times, i realised it was the cable, i brought it in and they gave me a new calbe from Blekin. Question is, i am seeing much less crips edges, would i need a SONY brand cable, or would it not matter?

If it still was under warranty they should have given
you a Sony cable, not a substitute (or at the very least order one).

Doubtful that the Belkin brand is the problem though.
A new Sony cable could do the same thing.

Did you adjust the Phase & Pitch with the supplied test pattern
to see if you can clean it up?
