Not to ding this thread, because it is great- but I am noticing that you purchased the stand for $199. In my area many dealers will throw that in if you buy the TV - possibly for a little more but overall for a little less...

These stands are a scam in themselves. A friend of mine bought the 40" Sony, and he had to get the stand - there is practically nothing out there that matches the TV and can hold this 300lb monster. They wanted an additional $450 (500 list - Fu*k that). Well he talked them down a bit, but still there no way in hell that this stand can cost $500 or whatever it lists for - man that's the price of a small TV all by itself

I actually returned that stand today because it was for a different Wega, and wouldn't fit my Wega. I purchased the correct stand for $179.99 which is designed specifically for the Wega I got. It gives it a 1 piece look so that it's hard to tell the stand from the TV. Their stands ranged from $99.99 to $250.00. I didn't want to trust my brand new Wega on a $99.00 stand

I went to my local CC and the FS17 was like $948 or something like that and the FS13 was $858.

They wouldnt budge on the price at all, so I walked over to the brodband section and got the store number and had them call.

The sales manager was nice since he explained that he really didnt have to do it. If they pull up those TV's in thier system for that store(3405) then the price is as I just listed above. When he called, the sales manager in the Boca store confirmed that it was a pricematch from some other local place. Apparently there is some clause somewhere that negates pricematching a pricematch(if that makes sense, it's up to the sales manager to honor that price or not since even that store's system(the Boca store) has them listed as the price above.)

Anyway, end result is that we walked out of there with the FS17 for $798.99(not including the tax of course)!!!!!

However it was so hard to be satisfied with those Hitachi HDTVs sitting right next to them at this store. Makes the VVEGA look like Fischer quality stuff.

As I stated before though, if you go to the store and they pull up store 3405(Boca) in thier system to see what prices they have then it will not be 798.99. They were assuming it was 798.99 open box. They had to call the store and speak to a Sales Manager to confirm that price regardless of showing them DreDay's receipt. Even then the manager explained that it was up to his discretion as to honor it or not since the 798.99 in Boca was from a pricematch with some other competitor down there. We got lucky since he was getting pretty upset with the service from the Boca store.

I'm sure with some hassle(or that you get a sales manager who doesnt give a poo) you can get it honored.

I could care less if all my Home Theatre equipment was Sony branded or not, they do make excellent TVs, VCRs and DVD Players but in other areas better brands can be had. I'm worried that I'll go to CC, be successful in bargaining them down to $798 then I'll be stupid not to buy it. But it would be a nice improvement over my current 27" Toshiba Cinema Series which would make a nice present for my sister and her b/f.

If I were smart I'd use the money to buy a futon and bed from CostCo instead of blowing it on a new TV which I don't need.

You should have insisted that the manager call the Boca Raton store to confirm it's not an employee discount. I'm no Circuit City employee, heh.
