There is a 5% off coupon if you used a citibank credit card flowing around. Just used it for the 36" wega. Save me $80. About the ebates link. On friday it does work, but I put it off. Try it again today and it doesn't work. I also forgot about the free shipping thru brandsforless. Double damm. :| But $1079 final price is not bad. This is not include the 10% from sony citibank refund. Just apply for it and hopefull it should cut down the final price to $972.

Details on the 5% citibank refund? Just bought a 32" toshiba with PIP from amazon... Anyone in the market for a 32" tv... run, don't walk to this Sony WEGA deal.... holy cripes wega is sweet. Go to a local best buy if you haven't seen one lately... and I *never* see them on sale. Oops, just noticed someone said they were sold out... snooze, ya...

geoffkin: I apologize. I am a current card holder and the only way to get a discout (points) is to purchase a Sony product. That offer is very new, good find! I used the 5% Citibank offer.

luv2chill: So dou you set your DVD player to output to a 16:9 TV then? BTW--That is a very good explanation about anamorphic widescreen.

wje: I ordered my TV on the 15th (3 hours before the 10% off, but they gave it to me after the fact). I can confirm they ship out of Oregon via Eagle Global (Eagle Global) not UPS. Mine shipped out on the 16th and should be here in about a week. A representative said either Wednesday or Friday (4-5 business days) and I live on the east coast too.

Component Video
Both 32" TVs have 1 component video input. But, most DVD players do not come with a component cable (and I don't think the TV does either) so you guys may have to buy one. I just bout the 1M Monster Cable 3 Component Video Cable for $80.

yeah set your DVD player to 16 x 9 mode and leave it there. For anamorphic DVDs then set the WEGA to 16 x 9. If it isn't anamorphic, turn off the 16 x 9 on your WEGA only.

Can't wait to get mine! Should arrive by the end of this week!

There seems to be 2 or more regular Wega models(I'm not talking about the XBR model).

800.Com has the Sony Wega KV-36FS16 for $1,599 no where in the description does it state that it can do the 16:9 compression.

Crutchfield.Com sell the Sony Wega KV-36FV16 for $1,799.95. It can do 16:9 Widescreen Enhanced mode compression.

I was at the Sony outlet stores(30 miles from Austin, Texas. The sellperson there say that only the V series can do 16. I'm not sure which V he is talking about until now when I realized that these models might not do it. I might go there tomorrow to straighten things out. If someone can contact Sony w/ any info to straighten things out, any info is appreciated!!!

Are we for sure that these Wega can perform 16:9 Widescreen Compression?

The main (if not only difference between the FS and FV models is that the FV has a 3D digital comb filter and the FS just has the regular 3-line digital comb filter. Vpham97: All of the current year models (FS12, FS16, FV16, FV26) that are 27&quot; or larger have the 16:9 Enhanced Mode (V-Compression). Also there are two big differences I know of between the FS and FV series. The FV series have a 3D Digital Comb Filter compared to the FS series that have a 3-Line Digital Comb Filter. I know this will make a difference when using composite inputs (and Antenna?), but does it matter for S-Video? I know it doesn't matter for component video. Also the FS series have the speakers on the bottom and the FV series jave them on the sides (with a little bit more power). Other differences are the number of inputs and maybe some small features.

I bought that cable at 800.com along with 2 DVDs. After shipping and discounts it came to $65. Not too bad.

I don't think it's wise to spend more money on monster cable.

Cable are cable.
Don't let monster cable fool you.
If you stick a coat hanger to use it as a cable from your TV to your DVD. It would play just fine.

Unless, you can find some monster cable for real cheap, I would just stick w/ the cable that came w/ your DVD player.

In theory couldnt you use the the promotion to buy gift certs (buy 200 gift cert, get another 40 dollar gift cert coming)

AND then use the 200 gift cert to buy the stand.. (hence another 40 dollar gift cert coming....)

so in a sense, you could buy the stand for 120.... in the end.

What do you guys think?

I think it is a coupon to use on other sony merchandise. I don't think it can be used as a cashback option.
