T-Mobile: band 4
ATT: band 17, supposedly starting up band 4 in very select areas

According to gsmarena specs, seems like there are different models of the Z1. C6906 operates on the majority of AT&T LTE Bands (AT&T seems to be operating LTE at 700, band 17, and 1700/2100, band 4, for the most part).

They will implement CWS (2300, band 30), that was just approved last year, sooner or later. Currently the majority of the phones currently in-use that support LTE can't use the band.

2G Network
  • GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - all versions
3G Network
  • HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - all versions
4G Network
  • LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600 - C6903
  • LTE 700 / 850 / 900/ 1700 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600 - C6906
  • LTE 800 / 850 / 900/ 1700 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600 - C6943

Never

Honestly,

As much as I hate to say it, I don't see it happening any time soon.

The Xperia Z was available on AT&T pretty quickly after the international versions launched. Better question would be when/if we'll see it on TMO or any other US carrier. The XPeria Z only just appeared on TMO a few weeks ago.

I don't think so. The Xperia Z was never available on AT&T. It was sold unlocked on SONY's US website, however, but never at an AT&T store. As you say, it's only been available for T-Mobile since July, 6 months after the (already dated) phone was introduced to the world. Hopefully, SONY gets their logistics together and start taking Americans seriously. I want this phone in my home ASAP.

I wouldn't mind if that is the case for the Z1. I would rather buy it unlocked from Sony to be perfectly honest. The most likely scenario is that AT&T requests Sony to lock the bootloader if they decide to sell it. Where as for the unlocked version, you can unlock the bootloader it via Sony's website.

Yeah, I don't mind either but I'm not holding my breath. The Xperia Z Ultra has been available in other parts of the world since late July and it's nowhere to be seen on SONY's US website. I emailed them in July and they gave me some non-answers. However, I understand the reasoning (phones like the XZU are not as popular here as in Asia). But with the Z1 being a major flagship, I hope they look our way sooner rather than later.

I remember seeing an Xperia for sale under the AT&T banner a few B&M stores here. Maybe it was a different model.

I had a ZL for a while and the 13MP camera on it sucked, mostly due to the "Superior Auto" mode which always processed things so bad that Burst mode (Which didn't process as much) pics always looked much better.

Hope Sony learned from this.

Odd, as I shoot with a Sony Camera and love it.

even for the official US Sony store, they didn't have it available during launch in March, only in late April... sigh

Did the Z1 disappear from the Sony product list? It gets a page not found error when Googled and doesn't show up in their list of smartphones either.

http://www.androidauthority.com/xperia-z1-vs-lg-g2-quick-look-266308/

Verdict: Both phones are very well built, and they both look very stylish, but we’ve got to hand it to Sony; it’s hard to beat the sheer quality of the Xperia Z1.

Verdict: On paper, the Xperia Z1 and LG G2′s display’s are fairly similar, but the Xperia Z1 pulls out the trump card with the TRILUMINOS and X-Reality technology.

Verdict: The LG G2 has an impressive camera — it’s no slouch, that’s for sure, but it certainly is hard to beat Sony’s 20.7-megapixel optics with the G Lens. The Xperia Z1 wins this round.

Verdict: Given the fact that the Xperia Z1 and LG G2 both sport a 3,000 mAh unit, it’s a tie.

Verdict: The Sony Xperia Z1 has microSD card slot, allowing for a lot more storage than what the G2 offers. It also one ups the LG G2 with Sony’s iconic water and dust resistance ratings. The Xperia Z1 wins.

Verdict: The Sony Xperia Z1 and LG G2 are probably on the same level in terms of software. Both have beautiful UI’s and sport useful features. It’s a tie.

In regards to the pictures verdict, doesn't the G2 have OIS? I would imagine that would set it apart from the Z1. It seems that the AA author just went w/ ooh more megapixles, Sony winz! Have they even compared actual photos taken from each device? I really want a Z1, but the early reports are stating that photos aren't the best. With 2 kids, a good camera is important to me since it's the camera I have with me everywhere. I can't put my DSLR in my pocket. I have a Lumia 920 and the camera is really good, but I've come to realize the app selection is really limited, no Yahoo fantasy football is a deal breaker for me.

Bezels on the Z1, the sides as well as the top and bottom, are way too big and compared to the G2 they're downright huge and ugly.

Totally agree that they are too big, but I hate the plastic back that the LG uses. I think the microSD slot is what is going to sway me away from my Lumia 920 to the Sony. Was also waiting for the iPhone announcement, but I can't go back to using a 4" screen. Plus I've never used an Android phone before.

LG's track record is what has me worried, I love just about everything else though, especially the double tap to turn the screen on and off. Replaceable battery, mSD slot, and stylus are all just too much to give up by going with the G2 though, so I'm still leaning towards the Note 3.
