phone looks great and specs are pretty awesome. however engadget's sample shots with the camera are pretty crappy...

That's pretty interesting actually. I wonder what their real world image quality will be like.

I don't know how many consumers will plop down an extra $250-$500 for a dedicated camera lens like that.

I certainly wouldn't. I'd rather buy a dedicated point and shoot.

I'm pretty much sold on z1 after the Note 3 unveil. As for the lens,I don't know I find that there are a lot of good usage for detachable lens, especially for super high or low shots. Qx100 also brings to the table same lens and sensor as a 700$ camera to the smartphone

Yah, the qx100 is a 1" sensor. Huge. It would be great in certain situations.

I think Sony will be selling them directly from their website world-wide according to a Sony rep that The Verge asked. So it might be a bit cheaper later.

QX10 and QX100 preorders are live on Amazon though.

SONY takes its sweet time when it comes to Americans, though. I emailed them about this and 4 different people responded with non-answers.

Its already up on the euro sites. 599 pounds in the UK. I'm sure either a carrier will pick it up or it'll get onto the north american site eventually. Trouble is if it will still be relevant by then. I'll probably have to end up importing one if I want it before it is old news.

Great looking phone but I'm wary of the size...I'm using an S2 still, with a 4.5" screen. The Z1 is larger than the LG G2 even with a slightly smaller screen. The camera's going to have to be really impressive for me to choose it.

That said, I'm happy that these flagship phones are finally coming out.

I think I'll get this phone for my wife. She's jealous of my LG Optimus G Pro but loves to take photos. I just hope SONY doesn't take its sweet time again...

I just switched from a Nexus 4 to an Xperia Z. Sony makes some incredible hardware now. There should be a google play version of this phone.

except the LCD on the Xperia Z/ZL looks bad for a flagship (contrast when looking slightly off centered), especially when compared to my Oppo find 5

(yeah, I know some people say it's partly because of the theming.... so why did they theme it this way?)

looking for a smartphone replacement for a friend, maybe the Xperia Z1 would be worth it

Seems like they rated the Z1 camera against almost every other good smartphone cameras out there including Lumia 1020

I am trying to figure this out myself. Does anyone know if this phone will work on ATT 4G LTE? I'm assuming it will get HSPA+ since most Sony phones work w/ T-Mobile

No clue yet, that's what I'm trying to figure out. If it does it's instant-buy for me. The only thing lacking in this phone is an IR blaster. But I've only used it once on my HTC One and SGS4 that it's a non-factor.

Phones are so light anyway im not worried.

Also with better material. Aluminum and glass weigh more than plastic and faux leather, this is true.

Looks like it. Pentaband plus a mess of LTE bands. Looks to be the most bands of any phone I've looked at. Should be happy on any US gsm network.
