i used to work for sony tech support an year ago. At that time their policy about monitors was that if it dies (or hicups) within 30 days of purchase u get the new monitor with shipping paid by sony. If anything happens after 30 days and unit is under warranty you get the refurbished one and u pay the shipping (or maybe you dont, not sure). Electronic products are like that. Some work for years and years. Some die in few months. I guess you just had bad luck with ur monitor. I had countless calls from senior citizens who wanted help with their TV that they had for 15 years. You get the point.
