I'm pretty sure it's equally difficult for both sexes. We don't have some extra magic that makes it easier. If anything, it's way harder as a guy to get a flat stomach than a woman as it's typically the last place we retain fat.

Oh and btw, I wasn't implying I was a woman I just see women at work, my wife, girls at the gym, etc working their tales off. Seems like men just need to take less calories and up excercise and it's a done deal. (I don't know what they're eating on the side-but I've seen some women work their butts off for weeks with little results.)

You don't see what they eat at home.

DIET IS 90% of what you look like. I'd say 80-90% of the time the women that aren't getting any results aren't eating enough protein.

Awesome. Keep it going. Be thankful you're not a woman. It's so much easier for guys, lol.

Really, i find an interesting phenomenon, that is, it is much easier for men to lose weight than women. Several friends of mine have made me believe this.

Or they're not losing weight because they're still just going home and gorging on sugar and junk food.

Not at all true. It's all calories in < calories out for both sexes.

However if you want to gain muscle then you need to be way more focused on your diet than you do if you want to just lose weight. And seeing as men want to gain muscle usually while women just want to be <120lbs, men have a more difficult road to follow comparatively.

I agree with Diet is a HUGE part of what you look like. It's often very over looked and people are terrible at keeping a Diet.

But I also find people have terrible workout regimens as well. You wouldn't put a bottom of the line APU with a Tri Titan Setup, but people seem to do the Workout regimen equivalent every day. Simply conjure something up rather than look around.

It's funny to me that people interested in tech, will go to a tech forum to ask a question, but yet when they are interested in getting fit, they don't decide that the best place to get information is a lifting forum. Considering forums have always been the best source of information (especially information that isn't influenced by someone elses wallet paying for a good review), it was only when I joined a forum and asked the right questions that I saw consistent progress every week. Being on a structured program that you know works, and is very simple and easy to follow with progress every week also just feels good haha.

I don't think it is people are bad a keeping a diet, it is just that people believe they have to have some extreme diet to get anything done. Of course nobody can keep a 1000 calorie a day diet.

A bit problem is there is a lot of information and it is good and bad. Plus, workouts aren't just a "here is the best one for everybody" type of thing. You see celebrity workouts and think "oh, if I do that I will get a body like him" but they fail to mention that workout was designed specifically for him getting those results, along with a nutritionist crafting every meal to align with that goal.

A big thing is people don't want to ask questions or pay money for someone to put together something specifically for them and their goals. I would wager 95% of the people that have the results had some trainer or someone put together a plan or stages of workout to get that way. They didn't just pick out a workout from a google search and get to that point.

I could go into a lot of detail since well, there are two things I enjoy right now and it's tech and lifting but that's not the point of what I was trying to post.

The whole point of my post was, if you really want to get in shape, don't post on a tech forum trying to get the answers(Although when I skim the sticky here, I see a lot of good information and correct programs being recommended so I'm not sure why people aren't doing them). Post on a forum where people lift.

You wouldn't go to bb.com and ask them about what the best PC to get for the money is. You'd ask over here at anandtech where we have a ton more people interested in tech. I JUST saw this happen on bb.com where people asked about PC hardware and people gave the most ignorant answers.

I didn't really learn a lot about tech until I visited tech forums. I didn't really learn a lot about lifting til I visited lifting forums. The internet, especially forums is a good place to learn a lot and get decent information. All I'm saying basically is you could learn a lot by exposing yourself to other forums.

THIS - Forums, Forums, Forums. I joined these forums because I am recently pursuing a degree in Information Systems Security. Join forums. Read. Read. Take everything with a grain of salt though, you can't believe EVERYTHING you read.

** On another note, good luck. I lost 70lbs my freshman year of college. I counted calories, ate the SAME THING every day, it sucked. However it was worth it in the end. Keep it up. Read nutritional guides.
