All aside...I'm really surprised how well Batman runs on my shabby GTX 960...actually better than the GTX 770 even with the additional Vram.
Indications are that the new Batman game is yet another terrible port capped at 30fps (can be bypassed via INI). Glad to hear it works well on your 960 - what settings are you playing with?
Kidding aside, I hope Fury gives 980Ti a run for it's money.......
So reviews come out on the 24th? But when/where on that date as its already the 24th in New Zealand.
Run for it's money? I hope it curb stomps it, I'm not really optimistic though just due to the fact we didn't see a bunch of performance leaks after the 980ti debut just to give the early jumpers pause. Makes me think they are neck and neck at best. I remember the 9700 Pro being a shocker though with no real forewarning, so I hold out hope.
When will the review be up?
Fastest card at Stock. Probably fastest with OC as well. I doubt it will be more than 10%, but that could happen.
So, do we know when exactly these cards should be showing up on Newegg?
Depends on whether the OC software can increase vcore or not, ie, whether they require update to support Fiji vcore OC first.
Cos CC OC is meh, like most Radeons, 10% is tops without vcore.
But certainly stock v stock battle, if Fury X beats Titan X, it's the first time AMD has the performance crown.
I don't think it will matter if vcore is unlocked on Fury X or not, my guess is GM200 wins in all regards when both cards are overclocked but the difference will only be 10% or less while Fury X still has the much more elegant cooling solution than reference 980 Ti / Titan X cards. I think AMD probably will lose at 1440p but tie at 4k against Titan X in single GPU configurations. I think Titan X will definitely have better perf/w, and depending on whether finfet GPU's are coming in mid 2016 or late 2016, I think Nvidia may leverage that headroom by rebadging Maxwell into the GTX 1000 series, with the new 1080 TI boasting a full GM200 core with 100mhz or so higher boost clock than 980 TI / Titan X.
4K should be VERY interesting. Fury X gets the benefit of the extra memory bandwidth, but is capacity-constrained at 4GB. 980Ti has more memory, but slower access to it. It may very a bit from game to game...Fury X wins or matches and may be significantly affected in some very specific titles and/or configurations? (this part is just pure conjecture. Based on nothing, just thinking of possibilities)
According to the owner of that Sapphire Fury X in the other thread the overclocking is really poor on the Fury X, he couldn't get more than 100MHz out of it stable.
So stock for stock, the Fury X is extremely strong, but add the typical +250MHz to the Boost Clock of a Titan X or 980 Ti and the results flip again, with both Nvidia cards coming out on top (this is at 4k, I haven't seen his results for the 1440p or lower resolutions yet).
Hopefully some modded BIOSes will arrive to unlock more OC potential of the Fury X, that AIO cooler is begging to stretch its legs...
