Is this the end of btefnet?
Even if it's the end of the btefnet website (which I doubt) the MPAA can't kill btefnet the IRC channel/group. They never have been able to and never will be able to. Such is the beauty of IRC.
I miss DALnet.

I read that post, but that just seemed like speculation on the part of one person. Are they still distributing torrents off their IRC channel?

It's funny because the previous Supreme Court decision about "Time Shifting" pretty much contradicts what the MPAA is claiming. While cable may be a different matter, nobody has ever signed or agreed to any terms that say "I promise I will watch the commercials with this broadcast TV show." There are laws against profiting from the resale/redistribution of broadcast TV, which is probably how the MPAA will wind up going after btefnet and others, but saying that "trimming the commercials out is illegal" is crap.Originally posted by: rh71
The MPAA is banking on the fact that you will schedule time to actually tune in during the airtime... thus catch the commercials. Downloading these means no commercials at all. That's the only reason I can come up with.Originally posted by: Joemonkey
how is this any different than using a DVR to record the show then skipping or editing out the commercials???
all i ever download TV shows for is if i forget to DVR something... this is dumb
Oh yes, as I've mentioned eight billion times: The Pirate Bay. The Pirate Bay. THE PIRATE MOTHERF%$#ING BAY
You know what "TV" is in German? TV. (And it's Swedish anyway)Originally posted by: chuckywang

They should offer a service to download TV shows for a fee. Be it Napster with unlimited or iTunes with single purchase.

in mIRC, connect to any efnet server ... then join "#BT" (or type /join #BT) ... as for downloading files within IRC, check the triggers for the channel... they usually vary by channel and broadcast the command every few minutes.
They have +m in the channel, so triggers won't work and you won't be able to speak.
I guess they were getting POed by everyone asking what was going on.
So are you saying now that the channel is useless?
And how do I "check the triggers"?

This is interesting, there must be a TorrentSpy out there somewhere causing all these sites to be brought down.

Nice pun!
Not at the moment, no. Well, kinda. The bots are up but the triggers are disabled, since the channel is +m. (Only Voiced users can speak) They're "sorting it out" at the moment; theoretically it will return.Originally posted by: hdeck
so are they still hosting files in the irc chan?
None, except to say that btefnet.com isn't affiliated with them, and that you shouldn't donate to them like the page asks you to. So to reiterate: THE WEBSITE IS BTEFNET.NET, NOT BTEFNET.COM. BTEFNET.COM IS BAD!Originally posted by: Czar
any updates on their irc channel?
