Sorry if this is a stupid question but why are most football quarterbacks white?

I don't belive that blacks are endowed with better athletic genes, overall. I think there is a different and better explination as to why black people seem to dominate many sports. Blacks are, overall, poor. Particularly when compared to whites. What are you going to do when you don't have a computer or game system to mess around with in the afternoon? Shoot some hoops, get a football game going, etc.

This is the same as asking "why are there more white geeks?" I don't think it is because whites have a "smarter gene"

Well blacks were subjected to selective breeding for superior physical traits for several hundred years during slavery. I am not saying that this is the only reason they often make superior athletes, it may have an influence.

Not that long ago, it was common belief among whites that afro-americans were not smart enough to be quarterbacks so it has only been the last 15 years or so there have been afro-american playing that position in the NFL. Interesting, I was watching the HBO special about Jim Brown and he said that when he started playing college football whites thought that afro-american were not smart enough to play the running back position. At first they wanted him to only block or kick punts.

Slave owners wanted individuals who were big and strong enough to labor for them (or to sell). Any history book will verify that....it is one of the reasons slave families were constantly being torn apart. (greed and fear were other reasons).

I agree. Plus, I think socio-economic reasons are more influential than racial ones when it comes to a certain race being more dominant in a sport.

BTW, last time I went to school, I learned that each of us are born with different genes that make our muscles more explosive and last longer. Not to mention how metabolism and bone structure really affects how athletic you are.

I doubt its because they haven't been given an equal opportunity, but I really have no clue as to why there aren't more black qbs. All I know is Vick really tore it up against the Packers Go Falcons!
