Sorry to complain here....I'm not really sure where to complain to...

But, those HP ads, WHILE REALLY REALLY COOL LOOKING (I could sit and watch for hours ) slows my computer down to a crawl. Worse than the "punch the monkey" ads ever did.

Important System specs:

Cyrix @ 233mhz
64mb 66mhz SDRAM
4mb PCI ViRGE dx

Now once all of you guys (and gals) have stopped laughing, try out the forums on a system of equal performance, and refresh a page until you get the ad yourself. It takes a few seconds for drop down menus to appear (and no, it doesn't normally take long ) ONLY when running that ad.

Yes, I should upgrade (I've tried....I was sent bad components), but I'm sure there are others out there for whom its a chore to just browse the forums, because of this one ad.

If you click the "Stop" button on your browser, the ads will stop activity...

You'll have to do it on every page though! (It works on IE 5.01..!)

Sorry, you're right...Some ads stop...Some don't...I just tried the Monkey and it didn't work ...I think it only works on rotating ads (I just tried it and the ad at the top of the screen stopped, but the darn monkey doesn't stop:| from another site...)

i know they are. try running two browser windows open at the same time, when they both have that ad. then you'll see that even browsing becomes tough. It feels like I'm browsing on a 486 with 8mb of ram. I click on a menu bar, and wait for it to appear. Even my text appears significantly after I type. I repeat, that this is only when that particular banneris running.

You can complain!!! That "Punch the Monkey" ad nearly locks up my Thunderbird 900 too! It's a ad displayed by the Rydium Network. Sites I've seen it displayed on include amdzone.com, tweak3d.net and overclockers.com. Express your displeasure with it to ads@rydium.net. If it affects your pc like mine I'd strongly encourage you to write to them, there's strength in numbers!

you know you guys could get some software that blocks out ads, or perpahs block the the server where the ads come from if you have your own firewall.
