If you are not interested in the 5.1 features, the prices of the regular line of Live soundcards should be much lower now....

I've thinking about getting this puppy...but still reluctant to get because of the Livedrive I they include.
It's worth a wait since I don't want to buy it and then pay $50 extra just to trade it for Livedrive II.

What they've included looks like the drive 2 but with infra red function for remote control. I wished I had waited before buying the soundblaster platinum and Live drive 2.

dude huggiebear, it comes with cubasis vst instead which i think is 50$ software and just as good as cakewalk..

in the livedrive IR section it says connectivity with minidisc is included,
so that means it comes with the livedriveII

Yeah, Creative's ULTRA VAGUE site states that this is a new dirve with an infra red remote control. My guess is that it's LD II and they just added the IR. I wish they would say something like "works with DVD drives" or something like that. I swear the reason that Creative's site is so vague is so that you wont figure out how your getting SCREWED. It says on the site that the whole reason for getting 5.1 is so that you dont have to buy another card.
For those of you that dont want to go out and spend another 'hundo' on one of their cards, you can buy Creative's DxR 5.1 decoder board that they sell for 79.00 for 29.00 on price watch or you can buy another board by Best Data at computers4sure.com for 54.99

It states it offers connectivity to minidiscs, but minidisc recorders accept analog too... Hopefully it is really a LiveDrive II with IR... those optical outs are a must have...

What is the possibility of the remote being packaged?. I dug this up from a website linking to the creative japan. This looks nice guys and gals. Notice the tos link connectors and the infra red sensor. Will work nice with my phillips pronto even if the remote isnt included. I too am glad I didnt go for the platinum with the Livedrive II upgrade offer. The best things come to those who wait!!! Patience is a virtue.

I asked if the 5.1 platinum came with the remote. After a little more research on creative's site I got my answer. Aparently this does include the remote and the live drive II revamped. What a great deal!

did anyone notice that on this page it alludes to the DTT3500 digital speakers? wonder when those are coming out and what are the specs on those. i hope those will be better than the klipsch...i only hate the fact that the klipsch does not do 5.1 sound. but i don't hate the kilpsch...maybe a little competition will force klipsch to come out with even better speakers than the promedia's.

They are all out! You can still place an order at this price, which I have to believe is an error anyway, and they will ship as soon as they get them in....they shipped mine today!

I am guessing that the regular SB Live Platinum card should be 166, and the 5.1 version should be 199....

Anyone have any info on the Dtt3500? The new Klipsch speakers announced yesterday don't excite me at all.....3 piece.........

Well, my order did not go through. I will try again, even though I am probably going to have problems with liveware. I have windows 2000 AND an smp system, and liveware on my live 1024 totally hangs up my system. Actually, I have a geforce2 mx, and there are known compatability issues with current nvidia cards too, so I am getting screwed 3x! Without liveware and using the microsoft drivers my system is fine...but there go all the nice features. Anyway, this is an awesome deal, and I will pick one up if i can. Creative needs some competition! Hopefully they will at least get some good w2k drivers out in the near future.
