Sound card dilemma

Right now I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe with the onboard audio, but I still use my SB live card because of the live drive.

I only use headphones and I need front-controllable sound volume, hence the need for the LiveDrive.

I am looking to buy a new card, and normally I would consider an Audigy 2 except that Creative's pitiful lack of drive support for the Live/Audigy1 cards as well as the fact that their drivers turn your computer into a theme park has left me with a really sour taste in my mouth about Creative.

That's not to say I wouldn't consider them at all, it's just that I am quite dissapointed for a company that should be the leader in quality.

Anyone have and ideas or comments about my situation?

I got rid of my live drive and bought some really nice speakers and sub, that has a headphone port in the speaker. Hense..no longer needing the live drive! I hated that thing!

Thanks... that's a good idea. I love the idea of dumping this live card and just using the nforce/soundstorm audio.

Audigy2 Platinum and be careful what you install when you install the drivers. Install only the apps you need and learn how to disable the startup splash screen (takes 15 seconds) and you're on your way.
