Sound Card Suggestions

Hi all,

I need some suggestions for a good (read: cheap) sound card. $100 is my absolute limit, I was hoping maybe around $50 or even less if there is sucha thing. Right now, I have an ISA AWE64, so pretty much anything is an improvement. Mainly I just want to move to PCI. So... fire away!

SBlive value, About $45-65 dollars depending on model (Value OEM, Xgamer, MP3)
Best sound card out right now. (well besides the much more expensive platinum)

Sblive value is the way to go! You can get it as cheap as 40bucks. Look up at pricewatch.

Definately look into the SB Live OEM's out there. You should be able to find for less then $50. Ive also read great reviews on the Santa Cruz sound cards. But Im not sure how much they run for, but they should be less than a $100.

I would recommend either one of the non-Platinum (Platinum is a bit out of your price range) or the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. Both are fantastic cards.

Try an OEM Live! Value
or the X-Gamer 5.1 should be right around $100

The Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and Video Logic Sonic Fury (same chipset in both) are also pretty snazy..but personally I'm going to stick with my SBLive! for a bit longer. I see no really good reason to upgrade it, it sounds great, it's cheap, it's supported by every game on the planet.
With a little luck we might even get A3D drivers now that creative owns Aureal *hint*hint*

If you're just looking for a cheap transfer to PCI then look no further then Aureal's SQ2500. I saw them on eB@y for $25 plus shipping. With performance at par (if not better) then the SB Live! I say that's one sweet deal.
