Just as the subject says. Randomly, my sound will die out while running some application, be it playing mp3's, watching movies, or playing games. Its really annoying. All of a sudden it'll just die out and go BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP, and it won't stop unless i restart. This has happened about 15 times within the past 8 hours. its REALLY annoying.
I'm running the onboard sound for my MSi K7T Pro2-A mobo, AC97 sound or something.

Is it a driver issue? And if so, i haven't been able to find any updates for it, i'm using the latest i could find. Or is it a hardware issue? I kinda don't wanna have to buy a new Sound Card.

System Specs:
MSi K7T Pro2-A
Duron 800
Crucial 256mb PC133 Cas2
Voodoo3 2000
Generic floppy
generic 32x cdrom
Smart & Friendly 8x/20 CD-R
Linksys Etherfast 10/100 NIC
and some sort of SCSI 1 card for the burner.
1 Maxtor 5400rpm 30 gig HD, ata33
1 Seagate 7200rpm 30 gig HD, ata66

Check your manual for beep codes if it's not in there go either the MSI website, or the site of the BIOS manufacturer: They will have the beep codes for their chip. That will help you narrow it down.

That's not a beep code. It's the POS on board AC97 sound. It would always do that to me also on my MSI k7t Pro motherboard. Just go into the bios and disable it. Then add a fairly inexpensive sound card, load the drivers and you should be good to go. I installed a Creative Labs Live! Value, which you should be able to pick up used on the boards for like $30 or so.

Good luck.

Jammer53 I believe that is right... But just in case is the sound integrated into the main board if not then try reseating the card and taking a pencil eraser over the gold connectors at the bottom... I know sounds corny but hey it works...
