Alright, first off, its been a LONG time since i have been here. But my own considerable resources couldn't solve this problem.
I am no computer n00b (despite what my use of vista might indicate =P)
I have built more than 20 computers, starting when i was 12 (i am 19 now, you do the math).
My current desktop is a beautiful machine, and at the time i built it was pretty high end.
Windows Vista Business Edition (was XP)
Asus P5NSLI mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
eVGA nVidia 8800GTS w/ 640 MB ram
1 gig RAM (hmm, gonna have to up to 2)
320 gig sata WD bootdisk
80 gig WD IDE downloads drive
250 gig sata WD game disk
320 gig sata Maxtor external drive
Creative SB Audigy 2 sound card
Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speakers
Samsung 19" LCD
Lite-On CD burner
Optorite DVD reader/writer
Antec PSU
Current drivers and updates for pretty much everything
now, my exact problem is as follows:
At random intervals while watching video, either streaming, or local, the sound turns to pretty much pure static, sounds like a badly tuned radio station.
If i pause the video for like 3 min, the sound goes back to normal. I have checked all my speaker connections, and it doesn't matter if i use headphones or my speakers. I have checked/dusted the soundcard, and updated the drivers, to no avail.
If i try playing music after pausing the video, it has the same issue, really staticy.
On the other hand, if i am just playing music, although it doesn't go to pure static, it does skip, and sound.."off" for lack of a better term.
with music, the issues are constant, but with video, it only happens say, once for every hour of video watched.
No malware of any kind has turned up in my scans, and other than this i have no issues with my comp. Games run well, disk read and write is fine.
Kinda at my wits end here. Any ideas?
