Hi guys,
I've just copied all my mp3s from my old system (this one I'm typing to you from) to my new PC:
AMD 64 3500+
ASUS a8v deluxe motherboard
1GB Corsair low latency RAM
Western Digital Caviar 200 GB 8mb cache SATA using the sata promise xp driver so as to be recognised in windows.
GeForce 3 OEM DELL 64MB AGP (being replaced by a Gainward 6800 GT Golden Sample 256mb tomorrow or wednesday).
on-board sound
Now, here's the problem, or rather, the annoyance....
When I'm browsing my hard drive and using the latest version of media player or winamp the audio slows down and brakes up when I load a folder that shows other folders with their thumbnail preview pics etc, or if there are lots of files in a folder. It does still happen even when switching to "list" as the display type for the folder, so that's not a way round it really.
Is this simply because I have onboard sound and not a seperate audio/sound card, is it because I have cool & quiet turned on so my processor keeps underclocking when doing nothing and then clocking back up to load the folders? Is it my hard drive's fault because it's using a weird driver so as to work? Is it all of these things together, or is it normal for this to happen?
Thanks in advance as always.
