Sound problem

I've just had my Microstar K7T Pro2-a motherboard replaced with the MSI K7T Turbo. Before I replaced it, the sound worked fine, but after it was replaced it won't work. All the drivers seem to be ok, but when I goto sound in the control panel, you can't click on any of them. And anytime I try to run a sound file it says: "Unable to open wave mapper" Anyone know what the problem is?

Do you see the sound card in the system properties? no yellow markers there? If there is, install the new drivers that followd with the cd.

and btw, install the 4-1 drivers first.

there were no yellow flags in the system properties. And I've installed the new sound drivers...I wonder what could be wrong?

Seems as your computer is trying to use a sound card that aren't there any more... I think there is some options to use one particular output/soundcard for the regular windows sound, and then another choice for in and midi. Perhaps there are something wrong with that settings?

In 98 and me its under system controlpanel and sounds and multimedia

I've tried everything, NOTHING works. I've uninstalled/reinstalled all drivers, gone into the BIOS..everything. I've even called tech support..they coulden't help. Anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong? Windows doesn't seem to see any conflicts..

On some motherboards the networkcard and sound card will interfer with each other even if windows does not show a conflict. Try placing the cards in different slots if this is the case.

Is there a jumper on the K7T Turbo motherboard to turn on/off the sound?

I finally got it working I tried to install the Win9x drivers instead of the Win98se drivers (even thoughI'm running Win98se)and it worked!
