Sound System?

I want to know which sound system I should get. I can't decide between the Altec Lansing ACS54 PowerPlay Plus 5-Piece (for about $60) or the Boston Acoustics BA4800 5-Piece Multimedia (for about $140). I have heard both but I still can't decide because the price is still swaying me.

Which do you think?

I really don't want to spend very much on speakers even though I'm gonna use them for everything (music, games, movies......).

If you have any other suggestions let me know.

Is there a limit to how much you want to spend on speakers? Personally, I think if you spend about $100-150, you can find some decent speakers out there. I bought the Cambridge Soundworks Microworks speakers for $119 when they were on sale at hifi from $250.

Those aren't in the same arena, the ACS 54 is analog with 4" sub, the BA4800 are digital with 6.5" in sub and nice stands. If you want something in between, try the ACS56's.

The BA4800 aren't digital, but that makes absolutely no difference.
Very few 4.1 speakers have digital, about the only ones that do are the FPS2000 and you can't tell the difference between digital and analog.

Personally I would buy the BA4800 (and hopefully I will soon....), the ACS54 aren't bad for a midrange 4.1 set, but they don't have the power or clarity of the BA4800.

IMO the BA4800 are the best computer speakers you can get short of the $450 Video Logic Sirocco Crossfires. I would pay twice the $130 you can get them for. They are a great price.
