Sound upgrade for my computer?

here's my setup and my problem:

Asus MB with realtek ac97 onboard sound(not being used)
Sound Blaster Audigy in PCI (currently connected to speakers)
Altec Lansing Digital 4.1 speaker (540z i think) old speakers (1 green connection, 1 black)
Nexus LEXA case (has front headphone/mic plugs)

Problems:
Front Sound/Mic connection cabling doesnt reach motherboards front sound connectors... it has to stretch across all of my PCI slots, including video
Does anyone know of a possible solution for this problem?

Cannot connect a headphone/mic to Sound Blaster Audigy because there is only 1 black hole, and therefore kills all my digital audio when I plug in the headphones.
Plus it's in the back and really annoying to get to.

What should I do??
I was thinking new speakers to match the Realtek ac97 since its probably nicer than the ancient soundcard.
Or a newer soundcard
(or both)
But I am not sure if that would fix my problem with the mic/headphones problem.

You need to plug in the front audio to the sound card not the motherboard. Unless you want to use just the motherboard and take the sound card out. If the sound card doesn't have connections for front audio then you can use the motherboard for just the front but you will have to go into the sound control panel all the time to switch it over to the motherboard when you want ot use the headset and back again when your done.

Unless I have missed something,
My Sound card Doesn't provide Front audio/mic connection.
My Motherboard doesn't support my Digital speakers
My Case's Front Audio out cable doesn't reach the Motherboard connection.

now My questions are:
Is there an extension cable for the Front audio out cabling (the part that connects Motherboard or Sound Card to the front of the case?
What is it called I have tried finding it on newegg, radioshack, even just in googling, and cannot find what I am looking for.

If not, Should I change Sound card, to one that has a connection for front audio/mic and keep my digital speakers?
or
Should I get a new Sound Card(because without an extension for the front audio from the case the cable still doesn't reach the back of the Motherboard), and non-digital Speakers and not have to worry about the digital speakers ever again?
