Soundblaster Audigy2 owners who use iTunes

2. Click on the Audio tab

Can you tell me...

1. Do you have safe mode selected?
2. What are your Sound Out settings (rate/size/channels)?
3. What is your default music synth selected?

MDE - Thanks. Those are the exact same settings I have but my iTunes audio sounds awful. It sounds like screeching popping on any audio playback.

If I drop the size down to 16bit it sounds fine.

EDIT: This just started after I upgraded to the new iTunes 7.

I'm using iTunes 7 and the latest drivers from Creative and haven't run across any problems yet.

Damn. I wonder what it is. I just updated to the latest drivers but no luck.

The sound iTunes makes when I am running at 24khz sounds like it would blow my speakers if I turned it up even to an audible level for too long.

I've always thought iTunes sounded like crap, but nothing like that . I'm still sticking with Winamp except for downloading Podcasts and adding music to my iPod.

QFT. Thats exactly what I do. I only use iTunes to add music to the pod and to download the free tune every tuesday. I dont even use it to rip cds, for that I use AudioGrabber.

iTunes 6 worked and sounded GREAT on my PC with its integrated VIA audio. The digital out connected to my home theater had very good quality, it sounded every bit as good as Winamp. I was happy.

iTunes 7, however, is T3H SUXX0R. Holy crap does iTunes 7 sound bad. I'm not just talking about poor quality, I'm talking about "static" and "pops" and whacked out distortion. Something is totally FUBAR in iTunes 7 and/or Quicktime. It's a shame too, because I rather like the way iTunes 7 looks and I was interested in browsing some of the new store features. But I went back to 6.0.5 after this crapfest.

If you are interested in iTunes 7, do yourself a favor and wait for 7.0.1 at the very least!!!
