Soundcard under $45..

I am looking for a soundcard that supports surround sound and that 5.1 stuff. I have heard that creative lab has some nice cards.. but don't know which one to get under $45.

You've got plenty of choices apart from Creative. The cards with the VIA Envy chip are quite good for the money, and can be bought fairly cheaply, such as the Mad Dog 7.1 Entertainer, Chaintech AV-710 etc. You can also consider the Philips Sonic Edge 5.1 PSC605 and the Hercules Fortissimo III.

Yep, you can probably get it for about that same price ($20 shipped) in the For Sale/FT forum here.

the chaintech AV-710 has been solid with viarena's 1.43c driver.
Only con about the card is it doesn't support ASIO.

Damn I paid like $70 when I bought mine (like 3 years ago). I love it though, but my SoundMAX built into my new mobo sounds better.
