I live about a half mile from where they are having the fireworks display.
Since I have seen it so many times, I decided to stay in and watch a movie.

But it sounds like WW3 just broke out.

Most of the local fireworks displays have been cancelled because of budgetary issues, so no professional fireworks for Boomer tonight.

HOWEVER, due to the high number of Mexicans and other folks who flaunt the fireworks laws, we'll have a decent amateur show once again. One neighbor brings in several hundred $$ worth of illegal fireworks every year for his 4th of July party. (with only 1 or 2 exceptions, NO neighbors are invited to the party itself, but many go watch the show rather than drive to a professional display. Since there are no professional fireworks, I wonder if his turnout will be higher this year?

Here in indiana its legal and the locals go crazy for it. My family from chicago come in for the 4th cuz I can get military grade shit for cheap. We spent about 300 for entertainment for 25 people. Fireworks lasted us about 3 hours before we got too drunk and tired to light off any more.... Sales are gonna be crazy on the left over stuff..

Nobody lost an eye but I did have a roman candle explode on me instantly. We had to put a noise canceling headset on one of my kids that threw a fit from the noise. One of my cats peed while running....

It's not legal here in Ohio.

We still bought a bunch in Michigan and destroyed a few mortar tubes.

Year round, ends up attracting unwanted attention. On the 4th, people don't really care to report it, and cops really don't care to go round ruining people's day for a little deserved celebration.

I mean, the world lights the sky on fire to ring in the new year.
Who the fuck cares about the calendar turning?
Celebrating independence? Damn straight we're going to fill the sky with the smell of awesomeness.

Also, they mainly just care about public safety on that day and night.

My poor little mini goats were scared to death. I made sure the dog was downstairs where she couldn't hear the fireworks and then went out and sat with the goats and tried to keep them from running around scared.

Have you seen iron man? Yeah, he bought a few of those Jericho missiles.
:sneaky:

LOL, you can buy whatever you want here in FL, they just have you sign a waiver to state it's for scaring birds away from your crops. Phantom fireworks here is like a supermarket filled with stuff, one HUGE mortar stands about '3 tall has a "16 maw on it and cost $50..

As I predicted, last night was like being in a combat zone...lots of BIG fireworks last night. Our littlest dog (>6 lbs)goes freaking nuts over this stuff, while the bigger dog (11 lbs) ignores most of it. Some of the "BOOMS" were big enough to rattle windows and light up the night sky.

The guy who throws the annual party had a decent display, but was outdone by the Mexican neighbor 2 doors down who had the biggest "home display" I've ever seen. Some of his "sparks of awesomeness" went several hundred feet into the sky...more like professional grade than the stuff you buy for home use. He owns a "party and jump house" business and throws a big party for most holidays.

The noise went on until at least 2 a.m.

Yeah, we didn't stop blowing shit up until just about 2am.

Had some of these mortar shells that were sold to us under the notion that they could be heard 4 miles away. We were like, k... we'll take two sets. We both had other brands of shells to throw up in the air as well, but we wanted to see if the noise was true.
We were right under them, and not sure if they could be heard that far away, but they were the loudest shells I've ever personally lit.

Once the little kids went to bed/went home, and it was just us guys, we started doing the fun shit. Ended the night with two of those big boomers in the same tube, earlier had some fairly loud ones triple stuffed in a tube. Those were great.
The best was the one that was pointed down into the tube. We were hooting and hollering when that one sent sparks all around us.

Neighbors a couple doors down lit something up that shattered their car's windows and set off half the neighbor's car alarms.

I used to live by the Brooklyn Heights promenade when I was a kid/teen.

July 4th was pretty awesome, as the sounds of the Macy's fireworks display was like thunder and the view from the promenade spectacular. I remember loving get cheap street food and watching the display with my family. Good times.
