Southwest Airlines half price fares (limited dates, have to purchase today 12/16)

Here's a one day sale at Southwest.com on "select" flights for half price. The "catch" is you have to make the purchase today (12/16), the half price fares are only good on 1/24/12, 1/25/12, 1/31/12 and 2/1/12 and apply only for the cheapest "Wanna get away" fare rates.

I did a spot check and at least for me the pricing was indeed half off of the base fare (MKE to SAN) to duplicate a flight I took recently on Southwest. Note that their base fare does NOT include taxes or airport fees.

As an added bonus Southwest still allows two checked bags (50# limit per).

No complaint here. You can pay $10 extra each way and board earlier, pick any seat you want.

The fact that Southwest doesn't charge bag fees and let's you change flights without penalty makes them the only airline that I will fly these days.

This is a great deal if your travel plans happen to align with their travel dates.

I'm not thrilled with Southwest customer service - I'd thought they said unused tickets could be re-used any time for a $50 fee, but they can't, and contacted four days after their expiration, Southwest refused to do anything but keep 100% of the purchase price of the tickets.

But these are very nice prices - other than the major lack of flecibility where you need to stay one week. San Franciso New Orleans is $70 each way...
