Is he wrong? Of course he is but I dare say most of us have all felt like him...
I was stuck on a 15 hour flight from South Africa with a baby that screamed 12 of those 15 hours. The ONLY thing that saved my sanity was watching movies and TV shows with ear phones... and even then my sanity was REALLY strained.

Yeah,. I know the parents are even more stressed but I gotta say I empathize with the guy too.
I know, that makes me a bit of an asshole, just know I'd never attack the parents or blame them. I just empathize with the frustration.
Planes should have areas parents can take screaming babies. Allow the parents to go to the galley or something.

Yeah, I know. I'm a dick.

Video isn't working for me but I assume it's a guy getting loud and shouty because a child is getting loud and shouty. So now there's two people being loud and shouty!

It's normal to be frustrated at a child screaming if you are stuck in a confined space with it but as an adult you are supposed to be in control of your emotions. What exactly is he expecting anyone to do about it? The parents want the kid screaming less than you do, they have to deal with it! They can't step out and if all the usual things aren't working there isn't much they can do!
Now if they are arsehole parents that are just letting their kids run riot have at them but if they are just doing the best they can in an awful situation I'd just scree in my headphones and order a couple of gin and tonics and send them my sympathies!

Screaming little rugrats and the seemingly oblivious, unknowing, or at least uncaring 'parents' are a huge reason why I spend so little time in public and will never travel again.

I don't even know why people travel with a baby, that can't be a fun trip for the parents nor the baby, it would not even be enjoyable. If I was a new parent with a baby and had 5-10 grand to blow I'd probably rather put that towards things that need to be done around the house, or maybe even start the kid's college fund with it, or something.

It was overboard for the guy to have a full meltdown though, that's just making the entire situation worse for everyone involved.

i think they usually do it because grandparents/aunts/uncles really want to see the baby

While I've seen parents try to deal with that I've seen plenty of checked out parents on flights immune to the crying who can't be arsed to attempt any kind of diversion or comforting. High quality headphones are key but those tend to be pricey so I feel for the infrequent travelers who don't want to drop $250+

I coworker recently had twins so he and his wife are taking their first plan trip in ~10 years with their (2) 10 month old kids and 3 year old to see grandma and grandpa. They didn't want to and were dreading the entire ordeal but they were feeling the pressure from family to make it work.

Isn't this a little bit of an overreaction?

I know, babies are overrated, they should be outlawed in public.

Those kinds of people should be dealt with by landing at the closest airport and kick8ng them off, the same as would be done with any other disruptive passenger.

Yeah.... let's kick crying babies off planes like they're criminals.... great plan.

A better idea (and one that might actually happen) would be "family" flights and "adult-only" flights being made available, or alternatively distinct "adult" sections with sound-barriers on larger aircraft.

Good thing the guy never watched final MASH or he’d have known what to do.

No, you kick off the entire family if they don't do everything they can to keep their kids in check...or stop the baby from crying. It's not the baby's fault...ears that don't pop, loud noises, strange people...all can be uncomfortable for the wee ones...but if the parents ignore it..."babies cry, get over it" .or don't stop their precious little snowflakes from running up/down the aisles, from kicking seats, and just bothering other people...THOSE are the ones who need to be removed from flights.

I don't disagree that having "segregated" flights would be a good idea.

We are hard wired to have a problem with that sound, I get it, but as a father I say 'Man the fuck up dude, you're screaming like a kid now.' Put something in and/or over your ears. You want to get banned? Ain't worth it.

Kids aren't the problem on flights. Booze is the problem on flights. I think companies should offer adults only flights too, sure. Like cruises or some restaurants. Why not.
