I got this back in Aug of 07, a few days ago i got the black horizontal line on the screen. It's still under warranty so far I can't even get a response back from Soyo so I can get a RMA on this thing.

This thing had a great picture, but i don't think the build quality is there. So if anyone buys this, please get the Office Max extended warranty. I know it's only a few days, but i can't get a hold of anyone by phone, tried many numbers. Left message, also sent an email and got no reply yet.

If anyone has worked with their CS, let me know what your experience was and the best way to get an RMA for this thing. A PM with any info would be great.

thanks and best of luck to all that has one. A great monitor if it last.

How did you guys add the $50 insurance? I couldn't get it on the site? My credit card adds 1 year onto warranties, do you think that is sufficient?

U cld probably add it at the store.
u cld also look into some 3rd party vendors. Think its like $30 with those but hav never used them.

Most people feel that the quality of the Soyo monitors are a bit questionable and given that it comes with just a 1yr warranty, most people opt to get extended coverage for their monitors. One option for this is a $50 for 2yrs (not sure of exact details) coverage from officemax.

Mine just recently got that black horizontal line that seems to pop up out of no where. There have been reports of some that has this right out of the box, along with other various issues. So i would definitely get warranty from OfficeMax, at least one year. I did not opt for extended warranty thinking manufacturer warranty was enough. So far i'm having a hard time getting a hold of anyone from Soyo to get an RMA, plus the price to ship this back and the time waiting for it to return to you, not worth the hassle if all you are paying up front is either $29 for 1 year or $50 for 2 years. I don't know how OfficeMax handles their warranty, but if anything like other large retailers, should be able to just exchange for a new one in store.

Best of luck to all.

That's why I prefer my AMEX to extend coverage for free. After 1 year, they take care of all issues or refund you purchase price.

The first time i noticed it was about 2 months after. But it was very thin, almost like how the old sony trinitron crt had those lines for the Aperture grill. This is when i first noticed it, it's very faint that it may have been there from day one. This didn't annoy me as much since i had a 21 inch trinitron tube before this and the fact that i was out of the 14 day window to return to OfficeMax. But early last week the horizontal line got thicker, now it's very noticeable and still waiting for Soyo to reply back to me with something.

I thought maybe it was the video card, so i've tried different cards, PCs, drivers,DVI/VGA ports, different cables, etc., etc. just to make sure....and the line was there each time.

So if you buy this, please get the warranty from OfficeMax....will be worth the money.

Happens about every 3-5 minutes while gaming, hardly at all when on the internet or doing actual work.

Has anyone else had this issue come up yet? Mine is starting to do it even when I'm not gaming. Really annoying. Trying to read something or work on Excel stuff, then the screen goes black for a couple seconds, then back to normal.

What video card are you using? If it is an ATI card, going the the catalyst control center and try checking "Reduce DVI Frequency on High resolution Displays". I have bought a few of these monitors, and I had to use that setting for one particular combination of video card and this display. The display worked fine on other computers, but it blanked out every few seconds in this case. It would not blank out at resolutions of 1680 x 1060 or lower, just 1920 x 1200.

I am having a somewhat different issue. After I finish playing a video game, when I return to Windows - it reverts to 800x600 and will not acknowledge 1920 x 1200.

I end up having to reinstall ATI drivers.

I'm using an ATI Radeon 3850. Tried different versions of ATI drivers (7-11, 8-1) but to no avail - it's the same.
