Also, while the computer is on, if I disconnect and reconnect the monitor (via the VGA cable), I get the same results - the monitor shows a display for about a second after I connect (or reconnect) it and then goes to black.

Is there a setting I am overlooking?

Do these guys have a tech support phone number? I couldn't find one in the manual.

Any help will be *greatly* appreciated.

Thanks.

Did you try the monitor with no input signal? Just power on and then test the OSD menu screen? That way you can isolate the problem to the monitor or your computer.

Some reported that they need to use the cable which come with the Soyo, although I kind of doubt it. Seems lke a synchronization issue.

It is possible that the unit is defective. I hope not.

Thank you, Husky55, for your kind reply.

Without the VGA connection, the screen is blank (black). Pressing the menu button does not make the screen respond in any way! :-(

I suppose that confirms I have a lemon?

On mine, the sreen says "NO SIGNAL" and the OSD works with the +- directional buttons.

Did your light in front changed from RED to BLUE? When you connected your input signal?

It appears that you are one of the unlucky few.

Thank, again, for the reply.

Yes, the light does change from red to blue when the computer is switched on and the monitor starts receiving the signal. It even shows the boot up screen with the mother board logo. But, as I mentioned before, it goes blank (black) after just about a second.

I use mine with the DVI cable from an Acer 22" widescreen, and it works fine. I don't see why it would require a specific cable unless the cable you were using was DVI-A only.

OK, the one I had was certainly a lemon. Got it replaced from OM. The new monitor works fine. Beautiful display!

According the manual (page 4), we should be able to tilt the monitor to adjust the viewing angle, but how ? The monitor stand is fixed. What am I missing here ?

The stand where it is connected to the monitor can be tilted. Hold down the stand, tilt the lower part of the monitor up as per the drawing and you are all set. You will need to use some force as it is a little bit sticky ( which is a good thing).

Can you Soyo owners test something for me? Can you tell me if the center of the monitor, when looked at straight on, seems darker than the sides? This is usually more noticeable with a darker image--say a photograph of someone wearing a dark suit. Drag the photograph across your desktop without moving your head and see if the photo lightens up on the left side of the screen, gets darker in the center, losing detail, then lightens up on the right side again ... I used to own a S-PVA screen that did this and it drove me crazy. I really want to get the Soyo, but NOT if it suffers from the same thing ... If you looked at it from an angle off to the side, instead of dead on, then it would be evenly lit, with the same amount of detail ... but who looks at their monitor that way?

Well, it seems on my monitor to be brightest in the central area and the four corners and edges have the ever so slightest bit of dampening. It's a bit hard to explain. It's not really darker but just bit more "yellowed" without really being yellow. I only notice it on forums with all the ranks of posts running down the screen. The top and bottom posts look a bit more like parchment but their overall color is the same. I can't really detect it on photos, movies, or games. Does anyone else notice this?

I did get a new one, it's been working great for the last 24 hours. I shelled out a extra 30 for a two year warranty. Manager told me it covers accidental. Didn't know that anyone still covered that these days.
I haven't update my new computer in my sig in the last 5 months. I have it hooked up to a 7900gs. I thought it was a hi-res or driver problem initially due to my craptacular OS (Vista) . Thank god for dual boots.

Gotta say, I've been very happy with this monitor for 1920x1020 gaming for the past month. I have no doubt that this IS a great deal at $299 ($50 for a 3 year accidental nqa return policy). So in two years when the really nice upgrades go on sale, I'll return this one (water damage is included).

For those having calibration issues in XP (using profiles) try forcing a LUT load with the MS Color applet (wincolor.exe /L).

I use a LUT loader provided by ColorEyes so I haven't run into this myself, but the MS color applet seems to be a bit idiotic in its profile loading. It doesn't always do a proper LUT load even when you have a color profile set for a device. If you don't see a color shift when you apply the profile it is not loaded.

For owners of the Soyo, you might consider register your monitor at the soyogroup.com web site. There is something about if and when you need the warranty work, they will ask for your registration number given out after you register.

Hopefully, we do not need to ever use the warranty but we never know!!!!

Does the Soyo monitor come with a DVI cable, or do we need to purchase that separately?

Also, if you order through the phone, can you return/exchange it at a local Office Max if the monitor has dead pixels?

It comes with a DVI cable. I asked at the local Office Max and it was a 14 day return policy. I would
suspect that the local store would take a return if you have the paperwork to show it was purchased
within 14 days.

My Topaz-S has developed one "sort of dead" pixel. Sometimes it's off, sometimes it's on. Very minor, way up near
the upper left corner. Not a problem for me.

Yeah I think its just my mind playing tricks on me since my previous monitor was a really old CRT (one with a rounded screen lol)...so pay no attention to that now, everything's normal...heheh.
