My buddy who already has the nice LG L246W-BN picked up one of the "3 ms" Soyos.
It's a PVA, not TN.
Not a single dead or stuck pixel either.
He's very happy

My Model # was DYLM24D6 (I forget which letters went in front of that)
and serial # was SCU7501E35612XX
I am fairly certain it was a TN panel.

I picked up a 2nd one of these today, and have it sitting directly to the left of the one I picked up last year. The older one is a 6ms model, the newer one is a 3ms. I did notice a bit of difference with identical screen settings, displaying the same picture - the newer one seemed slightly more washed out, but at this point I'm thinking that while there may be differences that will require different picture settings to achieve similar results, neither of these are TN panels. There is absolutely no color inversion, everything looks fine regardless of my viewing angle.
The most annoying difference between the two monitors? The newer one's stand raises it about a half inch higher than the older one. I will probably wind up picking up some aftermarket stands or monitor arms just to even them out. Other than that - no dead pixels, seems to be in perfect working condition.

Could just use a thin book or something to prop one up

Oh boy. I went out and bought one of these months ago. When my dad saw it he went out and bought one himself. Well about 2 months ago his developed a horizontal line of stuck red pixels across the top. He dragged his feet getting an RMA number and even has yet to send the monitor away. It will be a real bummer if he ends up with a TN replacement.

Just a quick note, Picked up one of the last 24" soyos at my OM and sure enough the one I picked up said 3ms Topaz S and its a TN panel, no doubt about it. Gets dark from below angle and bright at above angle. I was gonna dual monitor it with the 24" Westy I got from BB but dont think so, this will be going back.

If the colors don't invert... it's not a TN.. that's normal for a MVA panel...

skip the initial tests and go down to the color fields(big full width images of CMYK-ish colors.) look at your panel from side to side and up down. TN will have significnt COLOR SHIFT in the high/low while MPVA will just get a dimmer.
-Purple with go to magenta or azure from different angles.
-Red will go to vermillion or magenta.
-Green will go towards a yellower warmer green or a cooler blue green.
