Soyo Dragon Ultra and AMD XP 2000 problems...

I got my computer set up and its working nicely. But now I can make every possible overclockment but I cannot make the cpu FSB go from 100 to 133. How can I acheive this? Everytime I change this setting the computer boots up and during the bootup just before loading windows I get the BSOD. To see what I am running now go here . Well the soyo is going back and Im getting a asus... good old asus... atleast they are dependable...

Few of us have played wth this MoBo so you might want to ask in another Forum and I noticed that there is 1 new BIOS for this Mainboard.

I do not know if your going to come back and read this but here it goes.

Soyo Dragon boards are junk!

I know that they speak highly about them in max pc mag, but they are dead wronge.

I returned mine two times and still had too many issues.
Even returned one in person at their USA office in fremont, CA.

And they cost more???

Stick with asus or epox and you will be fine.
I have never had a problem with any of their boards.

And yes we do know about these things!!!

Well, I am not a total genius in this regard, but, are you changing the multiplier before you crank it up to 133? If not, then it is probably more of the chip not being able to overclock that high, and that is why you are having problems.

Ummmm... tried that...it freezes at the BSOD if the multiplier goes to like 25 + the original 100FSB... I have tested my CPU on another computer and it looks like its the mobo's fault....

From what I've seen Soyo boards aren't bad. I've had a K7V Dragon+ for the past 6 months and it was fine until a powerflash through the network... I just got my Dragon Ultra but I haven't had time to try it yet.

Well that is what makes the world go round but I use a Dragon+ XP1900 for my main computer and it has been one of the better computers that I have had, Just built a Asus P4S533 1.6A @2.1 and their is no way I would trade the Dragon for it

What should the multiplier be? 16.5 or so? It seems like you may want to make sure the chip is unlocked so that changing the multiplier even makes a difference. If it is 16.5, a 133Mhz bus would be 2.2 ghz (ie. XP 2500+ or so). This chip just won't run at that speed.

Now, if the chip is unlocked, you would need to drop the multiplier to around 13 or so.

I may be wrong with my numbers, so someone please correct me if I am.

well last time i checked XPs run at 266 FB without unlocking .... so i think the mobo is the problem...

I'm thinking Soyo Dragon Ultra boards are made for Intel cpu's and Soyo Dragon+ boards are made for AMD cpu's.

So you're darn lucky anything works with your outfit!

The Dragon Ultra is not a great overclocker board. I've got one!
