I believe Soyo's behavior in handling rebate submissions has surpassed the threshold of criminal fraud.

I have contacted local authorities in Soyo Group's local jurisdiction to pursue the matter. They may or may not be interested in getting these dirt bags. If they do, the DA will need sworn depositions and other documentary evidence.

A criminal complaint, as you know, needs ultimately to be supported by proof "beyond a reasonable doubt" . While each victim's experience alone could not possibly approach that level of proof required in a criminal complaint, the sum total of all of our experiences could do the trick.

In California, as in many other places, fraud is a felony. That means prison time, not jail time. Also here in California, there is no "accessory to a crime". If a mail clerk cooperates with the boss in pulling this off ( "lost mail" ), that person is also guilty of fraud and faces the same hard time as the primary perpetrator.

It may be a long shot, but I believe Justice should be served. And I think nothing would be more just than having Mister Number One at Soyo Group have to either park his Lexus for couple of years, or kiss his bail goodbye and flee to the bowels of Asia.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I just got my Soyo MB rebate today - exactly to the day when I was supposed to receive it (three months since I submitted). So I got this MB essentially for free.

Also got my Antec rebate for a SLK 1600 which came out to $5 AR!

Add to that the ATI 9800 Pro I got for $129, I can make a decent gaming system for under $400!

After reading this thread yesterday, I wanted to email Soyo and ask if they received my submission OK, anything missing, etc. Kind of a preemptive strike I guess since it has only been 8 weeks. I didn't count on a response. Got a reply last night saying they need all my info, name address, etc. as I only included the conf. numbers in the first email. Sent that, now we'll see.

My rebates do come up on their online thing as saying "online submission".

I have some information for you guys. Even though I don't post much here, I do have an interesting link between you guys and Soyo.

My dad was called about this. He works Fraud / Forgery at Ontario PD... where Soyos headquarters are. He wanted to give you guys some information.

You guys that aren't getting your rebates for the Soyo mobos need to contact the FTC. Use this complaint form:
https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01

edit: copy and paste that line above if the forum doesn't parse the URL correctly.

This case is not a criminal matter and as such cannot be handled by the police. Your only other option would be to file a small claims action, or a class action lawyer to handle everyones cases at once.

Whoever called it into OPD, thanks for bringing it to their attention.

I will do the FTC route and count me in pm any legal action as well.

I also got the BS "we're not responsible for lost mail, send again registered mail".

This a FRAUD period.

I heard about the Soyo rebate problem when the NewEgg deal was available, so I avoid it. One company has been really good with the rebate is synamtec. My two $30 rebate comes back between 2 to 3 weeks.

I was having problems so I did the following. I faxed in a copy of the invoice, completed rebate forms, and UPC code to Elizabeth at 909-937-0783. Both of my rebates were approved and mailed next day. We'll see how long it takes to get them.

I've called all the numbers, left messages, emailed, and still I get no response. What do I need to do? My rebate says approved and shipped for the $35 rebate and there is no record for the $40 rebate.

Dear Valued Customer,
We noticed that you purchased a SOYO SY-P4i865PE+V1.0 Motherboard from us between 08/03/04 & 10/27/04.
As you may recall, our website advertised a mail in rebate for the SOYO SY-P4i865PE+V1.0 during that time. In partnership with SOYO, wed like to make sure youre able to redeem both rebates.

SOYO has provided a web-based application that allows you to check the status of your SOYO rebate(s) online. To use it, simply log on to www.verifyrebate.com. Alternatively, you can e-mail soyo@verifyrebate.com or call 909-292-2528 during regular business hours (9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m., Monday Friday) to speak with a SOYO representative who can help address your issues or concerns. Please make sure to include your information such as first name, last name, mailing address as registered on the rebate form in the email to expedite your rebate verification process.

Please contact SOYO after the period of processing your rebate has passed (10-14 weeks, as stated on the rebate form) if youre having trouble redeeming one or both rebates. If you need a proof of purchase to support your claim, you may visit the My Account page at www.newegg.com to print out an official invoice.

As a gesture of goodwill, SOYO would like to offer you an exclusive promo code redeemable for $10.00 off your next purchase of select SOYO merchandise at Newegg.com. I got the same response from Newegg as Forcesho. That response does not directly address the problem many of us are having with "lost or misdirected" rebate submissions, other than to provide the known telephone number. It does indicate that Newegg sees the problem blossoming and is trying to assert some influence. I'd like to assume that if Soyo does not take corrective action then Newegg will react further.

At some point, civil contract disputes morph into criminal proceedings. The US Postal Inspection Service is the primary enforcement mechanism for mail fraud schemes. The USPS reacts based on the "number, pattern and substance of complaints received from the public". This LINK explains postal fraud and provides a link to the web-based complaint form. I think it is clearly preferable to the FCC route, and is more likely to result in an investigation because Soyo is repeatedly claiming that the USPS is responsible. I propose that we give "SoyoRep" two weeks to get folks the money IN HAND, and then we broadcast the postal fraud complaint link. The USPS will not be interested in us getting our money, but they well may be interested in prosecuting mail fraud. I'd say that this provides Soyo with a powerful incentive to pay up what it said it would. Of course if SoyoRep has been told to lie and is doing so, then he becomes a participant in the mail fraud scheme.

I'm picking Feb. 15 as the action date because that is about when the ZipZoomFly rebates for the P4I875P ($160) and the KT600 ($60) Mobos come due.

My $40 is showing, but not the $35.
I haven't contacted them yet. I thought I'd give it another week or 2.

forcesho, I got that too, a couple of hours ago.

this is part of the problem, read the rebate

"If you have not received your check 14 weeks after the rebate program postmark date....... please contact rebate@soyousa.com"

middle the form "Your request must be postmarked prior to 11/30/2004"

so.... take 11/30/2004 and add 14 weeks

thats not Feb. 15th, thats March 15th

I have contacted them by all mean as well. In addition, I 've contacted my Attorney General, BBB, FTC and they all have forward my complaint to Soyo or California Attorney General's Office.

Let's see what those places can do

Got an email from newegg about my rebate for the SOYO SY-P4i865PE+V1.0 motherboard. They refer me to www.verifyrebate.com, but this site doesn't list this product nor even newegg as a store so I'm unable to complete the registration. Guess I'll have to call them.

I had the same problem, went to verifyrebate.com and nothing showed up for newegg or SOYO SY-P4i865PE+V1.0. I contacted newegg and they told me to fax everything to Elizabeth Tsang (at Soyo rebate) at 909-937-0783. A day later the $40 rebate showed approved and mailed, but no record of the $35. I called her at 909-292-2500 x2533 and they typo'd my name on the $35, but said that it was mailed as well. Funny thing is that she supposedly fixed it in the system, but now when I go to verifyrebate.com and enter in my name and zip, I get prompted for house and/or unit # and it can't identify me.

But by faxing everything to Elizabeth Tsang (at Soyo rebate) at 909-937-0783 I seem to have made progress.

I received that same email from Newegg offering the $10 off coupon.

The 3 items they offer the discount on are:

1. An old, Soyo PCI/ISA skt 478 (no Prescott support) MB - really expensive too.
2. The Soyo Tech Aid - which I have and don't like.
3. The third part number seems invalid when searched for.

In other words, they are offering 10 bux off stuff no-one would ever buy.

Weird

I got that email from Newegg.. yeah they should have offered $10 discount on any Newegg order.

Also, when I verified my rebate, it says the rebate is only $35, and is INVALID. They say they never got the Receipt. I've been doing rebates for 10 years and I was very carefull with this one. I will start emailing them today

If the manufacturer doesn't make good,
I think the Vendor should make good on it.

They're the ones that are selling their sh!tty brand to the consumers.
If they were held responsible, maybe they'll spot carrying that sh!tty brand.

Newegg's handling of this SOYO rebate problem really smacks down their reputation in my view. If Newegg was as reputable as it once was, they would've done everything and anything to get Soyo to pay up the rebate, or pay the customers the rebate amount. They had advertised their products along with the rebate, so they should be responsible in making sure that the customers gets their rightful rebate. However, it seems like Newegg is just forwarding information given by Soyo (the link/phone #), and offering a completely useless coupon as "gesture of goodwill". WTF? "Gesture of Goodwill" my @ss. All it looks like to me, is Newegg pretending to "give great customer service" without actually doing so. Newegg really did blew this time, and lost alot of my respect for them.
