hi, this post is for anyone who got the free after rebate motherboards from soyo. and more specifically from newegg.com.

I just got an email i'm sure as some others have. This post is for those who didn't get the email.

Newegg gave out a phone number to call if you haven't recieved your rebates after the 14week period. also, it was nice to have newegg's word on things that they were watching over it a bit. also, they offered $10 off selected soyo products with the given promotional code. Not exactly that you would want to buy another soyo product ofcourse. anyway, just though I shoud get this out there for a little piece of mind for those others that bought aboard or two(me=$250 worth)

Dear Valued Customer,

We noticed that you purchased a SOYO SY-P4RC350 Motherboard from us between 10/21/2004 & 11/16/2004.

As you may recall, our website advertised a mail in rebate for the SOYO SY-P4RC350 during that time. In partnership with SOYO, wed like to make sure youre able to redeem both rebates.

SOYO has provided a web-based application that allows you to check the status of your SOYO rebate(s) online. To use it, simply log on to www.verifyrebate.com. Alternatively, you can e-mail soyo@verifyrebate.com or call 909-292-2528 during regular business hours (9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m., Monday Friday) to speak with a SOYO representative who can help address your issues or concerns. Please make sure to include your information such as first name, last name, mailing address as registered on the rebate form in the email to expedite your rebate verification process.

Please contact SOYO after the period of processing your rebate has passed (10-14 weeks, as stated on the rebate form) if youre having trouble redeeming one or both rebates. If you need a proof of purchase to support your claim, you may visit the My Account page at www.newegg.com to print out an official invoice.

As a gesture of goodwill, SOYO would like to offer you an exclusive promo code redeemable for $10.00 off your next purchase of select SOYO merchandise at Newegg.com. The promo code is SY732283 and may be applied toward the purchase of one of the following products: N82E16813139141 , N82E16813998101 or N82E16822162301 We view each customer as a customer for life, and in conjunction with SOYO, are pleased to offer you this special discount.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact SOYO directly. You may also reach our support department by e-mailing service@newegg.com or by calling 1-800-390-1119.

Thanks again for shopping @ Newegg.com.

I got the email from 'egg too. They're a shining example of a company that takes care of their customers. Last time I had a rebate problem at CompUSA that was widespread (Belkin 54g router $50 rebate that nobody ever received) CompUSA told us to go F ourselves. I don't shop their anymore, I don't think anyone involved in that rebate scandle does.

lol.

Screw Soyo, Newegg should honor the rebate themselves, they advertised it. They are the only ones with leverage.

Called that number to talk to Soyo... and got "We're sorry, the mailbox is full. Please try again later." WTF?! E-mailing them didn't do anything, I can't call them, so I guess it's time to see what Newegg can do for me...

Did anyone bother to read the letter from Newegg ?

The $10 code is eligible on these 3 items:

1. Old obsolete Soyo skt 478 MB - grossly overpriced.
2. Soyo Tech Aide - I have one. It doesn't work as claimed.
3. Nothing - goes nowhere..........

Yeah, I like Newegg but I don't think they are doing you guys any favors. All they do is give you Soyo's standard rebate contact information. Big deal. And that motherboard costs $165 + $4 shipping for an old Intel 845 chipset. IMHO, NE and SOYO are just making it look like they are doing something for you but they are not.

The other thread on this topic http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...=1510705&highlight_key=y&keyword1=soyo
has been locked by, I believe, a well intentioned but clueless mod with the comment: "this matter has been resolved"

NO it has not been resolved! The Newegg letter will only be significant if it radically changes the behavior of Soyo Group. So, far I have no evidence that it has. Further, many other vendors and products are involved.

Good firms like Newegg are getting dragged into this, undoubtedly they are routinely being named as an additional party in any lawsuits, and are reacting by trying to position themselves outside of the line of fire.

The letter from Newegg.com has NO new information for pursuing the issuing of a rebate from Soyo that has not already been beat to death on these forums.

I contacted the FTC through the complaint form URL in the other thread. (Those who haven't, do it. The form is very clumsy for this type of complaint, but just describe your experience in the info block.)

I received an email reply from the FTC(possibly a stock response) but it indicated that the matter is being escalated and that law enforcement agencies may contact me. I take it that they have also caught the whiff of fraud.

This matter will not be satisfactorily resolved until ALL rebate application have been satisfied without so much as a phone call attempt or email, even those who have forgotten the rebate or didn't want to fight for it. Fair is fair. Nobody should have to bargain for a fight to get what is promised when they are persuaded to make a purchase involving a rebate.

BTW, Soyo Groups headquarters are the Ontario, CA (San Bernardino county) address. The Diamond Bar, CA (Los Angles county) address may only be a contract clerical facility.

So I did a little hunting and found out the USPS delivers 99.997% of their mail, that's 3 out of 100,000, I think someone is fibbing at SOYO

Take the issue up with the reseller, NewEgg. NewEgg advertised the deceptive deal. They profited from the sale. They probably share some legal responsibility.

update: I just looked at verifyrebate.com and finally my rebates(even the ones that were sent to the later found out, wrong adress*) are verified. I think this means something should be sent soon. I sent the in about 12 weeks ago. hope it is working.

* soyo had givin the wrong dress out on one of the two rebates for each motherboard purchase. I guess they just got the mail from the other place instead of changing the adress.

I'm glad NE is doing something about this. Hated to see them advertising w/rebate stuff. Maybe TD and CUSA, along with other rebate dealers, will start to take these more seriously. I don't understand how these people have operated in a very shoddy manner for so long. Seems like everyone, including pertinent government agencies, expect to NOT receive half of the rebates submitted. Hope the other manufacturers take notice of this. I've been lucky in that I've received ever rebate I've submitted in the last 2 years. But I've kept all the documentation on every one of them, so maybe there's more than luck involved.
