Soyo Sucks

I bought two Soyo motherboards in June and am still hasseling with these thieves for my rebates. I've supposedly been approved for payment since late October. I've e-mailed them six times and called them five times. At first it was always another 2 to 3 weeks. Now it's the old checks in the mail. Supposedly one check was mailed on 4th and the other on the 10th. Must be coming by pony express from California.
It amazes me this company can get away with this stuff. Reputable companies like Newegg and ZipZoomFly should stop being a front merchandiser for these lying crooks. I feel sorry for those customers who have really big rebates coming from these turkeys. The California attorney general should have shut them down long ago.

I called and they said to re-submit. I told them I already did(yeah right) and that I was filing a complaint with the BBB. They sent my rebates right after that. Two rebates 50$ and 64.99$ It was two calls total.

This is old news here and at other deal sites. SOYO has a well know reputation for delaying and not paying their rebates. You should have joined ATHD sooner.

blueribb will drop in shortly to explain how to get your rebate from SOYO.

I hope that this is true. I've been waiting since June on a Soyo rebate, too.

I hope I don't get in trouble with blueribb. Here's some of his posts on how to get your SOYO rebate. When my $10 rebate was late I emailed them at rebate@soyousa.com and explained how late they were and I received my rebate within a week. You can check your status at: http://www.verifyrebate.com
BTW MisterE, guess what PC I am typing this on.

Soyo Rebate Tip:

If it has been 16 weeks from the "postmark" date on your rebate form, CALL Soyo at
(909) 292-2504. If you get an answering machine, press 1, wait a second and press 1 again.
This will connect you with either an operator or Rattana herself.

Tell her it's been 16 weeks and you haven't received your rebate. If she starts giving you
an excuse, interrupt her and tell her the rebate is a contract and that you have lived up to
your end and that you expect them to live up to theirs with NO EXCUSES. She may then ask you to
fax all your documents to her attention. You should have your rebate within 1 week.

I have gotten all my Soyo Rebate Checks using this method (on time).

Good Luck

PS - Don't call them if it hasn't been 16 weeks (from the postmark date above your name on your rebate form).
You might p!ss them off and push your rebate back even further.

If you get an answering machine, press zero - wait a second and press zero again.
This should take you to the operator or Rattana herself (Rebate Dept).

Don't leave a message. Insist on talking to someone. Be nice ! (but firm)

Good Luck

Greetings, lanyap. Good to see old faces, and good to hear that the Andara/Micron machine is still serving you well. Thanks for the info about the rebate. I'll send them a message.

Speaking of not being all that smart...

Soyo is not in bankruptcy and has never announced any intention to, Chapter 11 or otherwise. Contrary to popular belief, the US-based Soyo Group which markets motherboards under the Soyo brand name is not exiting the motherboard business. Soyo Taiwan, a completely separate company, is the one exiting the motherboard business. This will not affect the Soyo Group nor its business of marketing Soyo brand motherboards.

Lizardman, please do not post in a thread if you have nothing constuctive to add.

This thread is filled with good information for people with a particular issue, and i fail to see how your comments help in even the slightest way.

I got mine after 2 submissions and 2 calls. I was a bit worried but they assured me it was going to be sent. And I treated them like they were telling me the truth. I may be tempted to buy from them again but not likely. Their track record has been established.

Go figure: Tiger Direct and Soyo together making this wonderful offer. All shoppers should think: This is a test....Can I restrain my lust for unbelievable deals and hope against hope...?, or, the dealer has an Ace showing, should I take a hit on 16 with four cards in my stack?

If you read the title of the Topic and you opened the message expecting a deal, then you're not too bright.

This message is right where it belongs - in front of everyone who reads the Hot Deals forum, so they don't get taken to the cleaners by unscrupulous dealers/manufacturers.

This is not where this belongs. I either belongs in Brag and Moan or in the rebate tracking forum.
It is not a hot deal notice.
Lock it.

ive found that if you pester them and lay the BBB on them, rebate companies (even parago!) will give in. for some reason they respect the BBB.

I went for one, and with a couple emails and 4 months of patience, I got my rebate. Yeah, this is longer than I want to wait, but I still got it. I don't consider myself a sucker, a n00b, or someone who got pwned, and am a fairly intelligent person. Speak for yourself, asshat.

Owl, sending them an email is all I needed to light a fire under them. Hopefully you get your money.

Time to close this baby up. I agree I put this in the wrong place, but I'm new to Anand Tech forums and don't know my way around yet. I saw a hot deal notice on a Soyo motherboard and saw the respondents getting so excited about a $160 mobo with two $80 rebates. I only am out $30 at the moment, and I appreciate all your constructive advice on how to get it. I just didn't want to see new inexperienced Soyo customers get taken, if just relating my story with Soyo, might cause them to pause and rethink their purchasing decision. I apologize for posting in the wrong spot, but my motives were pure. I still believe something needs to be done to make these rebate companys adhere to higher standards. Where is Elliot Spitzer when we really need him!!!

I don't know whether to believe you or not.

Either you're stupid or just plain lazy. Why would someone give up on a rebate ?
It's your money - don't you want it ? Look at your Soyo Rebate form and find the Postmark Date (printed above your name). Add 16 weeks and see if it's really overdue. If it is, PM me.

As far as the broken cpu socket - after building computers for about 8 yrs, I've never seen one.
Did you drop it or smash it with your fist ?

Again, if you're not making this up, why would you not contact Soyo for an RMA ?

I got an email saying that my rebate check had been mailed on Oct 15 and I should be receiving it in 3 to 4 weeks. My initial thoughts were that they must be mailing it from some where in Siberia by sled mail. How could any mail take 3~4 weeks? Well, three and a half weeks later on November 9th, it came in the mail. Post marked California on Oct 15. How is that possible? Fry's checkout line is faster than that, well, almost.

I have a Soyo FAR motherboard, the SY-P4I865PE Plus DRAGON 2 V1.0 and so far it runs, but I can't overclock my Celeron-D 325. Nonetheless, it runs ok and I sold it to a friend. However, when I went to move the board from my case to his new case, I discovered the board had warped along the top edge. It seemed to bend back some when I screwed it down in the new case, but this is something I have never seen before and I am not impressed.
Whether or not I get the rebate, although I do expect to, I will buy no more mainboards by that brand. I don't buy inferior products even if they are cheap. Now if you were to ask if I will ever buy an inexpensive board, like the ECS, for a client?.. sure, but, inspite of the fact that they may not overclock well, due to a lack of a CPU voltage setting, I've never seen one warp-- severely.
Cheers.
